UPDATE! Rick Reilly is a lying dingleberry clinging to his hatred of Cam Newton

Blah Blah I know you don't want to hear about what the media said about Cam. Please close your browser.

OK for everyone else that is interested...

On the Colin Cowpoo show, Rick Reilly talked about Cam for a minute:

-said Cam took exactly 54 minutes to meet with the media after coach Rivera. Went on to explain that the media writers have deadlines and Cam should know that and should hurry up out of the shower. Said Peyton and AR don't do stuff like that. Also said that the team had to wait on the bus for Cam to leave.

-said Cam feels entitled, is a diva

-Colin asked if Cam can be great, Reilly said he has to grow up and stop being a diva first

-Colin said he has a source that he trusts that told him other players in the locker room feel Cam is a diva

Reilly came off sounding like an entitled brat sports writer. Complaining about fugging deadlines.

Cam is not perfect...yet. He needs to develop into a better leader and locker room presence. I firmly believe that will come with time.

Could give two shits whether the media has to wait.

The only item that concerns me (only if it were true) is about players in the locker room feeling Cam is a diva. Again, I have no idea if this is accurate (even though some here have said they heard similar things from supposed people that would know).

If this is true (and mind you I am in no way saying it is).....this is a problem.

I could careless how long the media has to wait as well. Cam has to take care of himself first with treatments or whatever else he has to do in the locker room. The media has no idea what obligations Cam has before he has to meet with them so to cry about it makes RR sound like a diva.

who cares?

doesn't matter what the media's perception is.

as far as him being considered a diva in the lockerroom? not a big deal either unless you want them all sitting around bro-hugging each other and singing kum-ba-ya every day.

i swear there's a bunch of drama queens in here and people looking for any excuse to hate.

As far as the media goes, take this for example. Several weeks ago, one of the ESPN radio crew said something to the effect of

"The biggest red flag for me about Cam is that I've never heard him take the blame for a loss. He's always throwing other people under the bus."

Now Cam has his share of things that he needs to work on but that poo ain't one... Actually, I take that back, he needs to learn from his mistakes & just shrug them off.

At any rate, saying poo like that, at best, shows that people are willing to only watch highlights of games & listen to clips of pressers. At worst, it shows that some are willing to flat out lie about the guy to support their dislike of him. Either way it's shoddy journalism, so if they have to wait a bit fug'em.

As for the team, well, it depends on how they feel about divas. It's not necessarily a bad thing.

If you're holding up the bus or plane, then you should be left. Jimmy Johnson used this practice often and relished doing it to star players to send a message to the rest of the team.

agreed here.

it's not the big problem people make it out to be and it would just be funny for cam and the whole team and it would also be an get any ego's back in check.

none of this stuff is the big deal people are making it out to be.

I agree that holding up the team bus is different than making the media late for their deadlines.

That sounds like a fine plan honestly

He has to hurry up and get to the presser so bottom-feeders like Reilly can slam him.

I wouldn't be surprised at all of he was making them wait on purpose after the crap they spew about him, I would.

I'll believe the stuff about holding up the team bus and his teammates thinking he's a diva when I hear it from a reliable source...

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
