Gil Brandt's 2013 mock draft is out

Say you want about Brandt but that old man is one of the most knowledgeable guys in football. He is very good evaluating talent.

He was one of the (few) media guys that I read that actually gave a knowledgeable evaluation on Cam too. Most importantly didn't base his opinion on Cam from what some other people said and based it off of all he had known as a fact at that time.

why would the Raiders draft Geno Smith when they already have Terrelle Pryor?

You do know that Geno Smith is NOT a running QB right? He's a pocket passer (and a very good one) that can extend plays if he has too, but he's nowhere near Wilson, Cam, RG3, Pryer, type of a runner. Not sure where the comparisons are (and Geno should be much better). Geno is a very smart football player and I think he'll do well in the NFL.

That being said, I wouldn't mind Terrance Williams in the 2nd maybe. Seems like a deep draft for WR so I hope we at least take someone in the first few rounds.

merely rustling feathers... some WV fanboy thought we should scrap Cam for Geno..

idk what's up with you guys if we took Terrance Williams we'd have a beast of a WR.

i wouldn't mind this guy at all.

Wouldn't be upset with Hopkins, Allen, Rogers Hunter or even Woods (lol usc WR) in the first two rounds.

i was just going to mention all this.

the guy is as legit as anyone. not someone i would easily dismiss regardless of how unlikely i thought his draft would be.

Don't disrespect Geno like that. The guy is a pure passer. Nobody ever thought pryor was ever gonna be drafted to play QB.

Just looking at the scouting report, I like the fact that he's a good red zone receiver. That is a big need for us imo.

That's about as far as my knowledge goes with him and most college prospects. I like to evaluate people as we get closer to the draft by watching games of those listed as possible picks. I don't know how you guys keep up with so many prospects, it's mind boggling.

Here's another mock by CBS Sports.

It get's worse. Mike Glennon at #8.........

http://www.cbssports.../nfl/draft/mock

Why they keep mocking us as picking a DT. Our defense played pretty well last year. The O line and the receiver corp let us down most of the time. I don't get it. We need to fix the offense in this draft because it's not difficult. We only need two pieces and that's it. OL & WR

Just get it done then we can draft defensive players the next 5 years. Please!

    • After some of the calls last year probably won't see much of a drop off

Resisting changes that would actually incentivize good performance and not seniority based systems. What a bunch of donkeys. Hope the replacements straight up take their jobs and never give them back. Sick of watching refs script games with no repercussions.
    • Donovan seems like highest risk to me. Lloyd and May have already established relationships with all these kids. There’s probably guys hitting the portal that they recruited from HS. And then there’s the possibility of transferring their own guys from their current teams. They’ve also been recruiting the HS kids for like the next 5 years already. Look at the Iowa coach who hit the ground running by transferring all his guys from his D2 program. Or going across sports to Cignetti transferring all his JMU guys year one then building off that to a national title year 2. Donovan is starting from square one having been in the NBA so long and he’s already 60. So you’re potentially punting year 1 for a guy you are just hoping to be a 10 year hire while you figure out how to actually develop your next home grown 20yr guy. That’s 1/10th of the time you have him, more or less at best. The hope would be that he would find some high level assistants who have been working the college recruiting trails already, but then are you giving up his ideal staff just to get a foothold in recruiting and transfers. Think Belichick year one was bad? Imagine how much worse it would be without Steve Belichicks transfer portal pulls. Hoping Mays or Lloyd are all they’re cracked up to be.
