Just heard a great interview w/ Cam and Cecil Newton on WFNZ

Just caught the tail end of what sounded like a great interview with Cam and Cecil Newton on the Mac Attack this morning... doubt they have posted the link yet, but when they do it's worth a listen.

Having Cecil be a part of the interview seemed to put Cam at ease and really brought out his personality.

Said he believes in the front offices approach to free agency

Wants Gross back

Has no intention of leaving, loves the QC and doesn't want to leave something unfinished.

Got upset on the sideline because when all the work he put in in preparation didn't pay off he got "ticked off"

Really excited for Shula. Shula has been around him for two years now and knows how he thinks and how he reacts.

That's all I remember off the top of my head.

Listened to the whole thing. It was really good. Cecil was giving Cam a hard time about how his mother and him had not seen Cam's mid term grades and Cam couldn't go on spring break until they did haha

This had me cracking up.

Listening to Cam talk about his goals always makes me feel better about the future of the Panthers. For some reason, I just always believe him when he says he's going to succeed.

The biggest thing i got from that interview was that every time Cecil directly spoke to Cam, Cam always answered with "Yes Sir", "No Sir". Despite the media attacks on the Newton family you can tell that our QB was raised the right way.

For a side note:

Cecil said that for all the Colin Kaepernicks, Lucks, RG3's, and Russel Wilson's of the world it would take 2 of them together to be what Cam is right now. Pretty powerful statement to make with Cam on the line (who did not shy away from the comment).

The truth is powerful.

Great post sir. Cam has been branded as the bad guy of the recent QB crop, but we all know what the kid is about.

Too many want him to loved.

He is a good kid, but he has always been his best when painted as the villian.

Just wanted to repeat this part. Can we now stop the stupid ass threads about him leaving for the time being.

This isn't a biased opinion, but Cam's personality fits Charlotte. He's a small city guy. He has that "i'm gonna put this all on myself" kind of mentality. Cam ain't goin' nowhere.

This is what I like about Cam and the future the most. I am sure and understand their family has had its issues with the college thing, laptop, whatever but overall they seam down to earth and to have solid foundation. Overall I think young players who come from that kind of environment have a higher probability to succeed. At least the outside stuff is not an issue its just all about whether or not or what the player is doing on the field, etc.

    • These are the three deep throw attempts that Will Levis made in week 12. His first one is a beauty; Levis and Westbrook-Ikhine gets the safety to bite on a deep dig only to go over the top for the score. His second throw is another beauty: a crosser to Calvin Ridley reminiscent of Bryce to XL (though Ridley has noticeably more separation on his route). His third and final deep shot was an incompletion from his own endzone on 3rd & 14 with pressure coming down on him (to me, this seems like a solid throw).   Film Room Playlist NFL Pro-02.mp4 Film Room Playlist NFL Pro-01.mp4 Film Room Playlist NFL Pro.mp4 Film Room Playlist NFL Pro-01.mp4 Levis took half of the deep shots that Young did. The differences are: Ridley had much better separation than XL, which is why his deep crosser turned into a 63yd play since he was able to scamper for another 15+ after the catch. Westbrook-Ikhine holds on to his TD pass. Bryce had to throw one away to preserve time for a field goal. Bryce had two more throws that were incomplete due to the WR Are we really holding the three WR errors and clock management decision against Bryce in order to say that Will was better throwing deep in week 12? That's not passing the eye test nor is it confirmed by the data.
    • If you go on the PUP list before the season starts, you are gone for the year. If you start the year on the PUP list then you can get off of it. Kind of semantics, but we are putting him on the PUP list now which is before week 1, that’s why people who come off of it aren’t really on the PUP list until week 1, hence you usually hear right before the season that they are “starting the year” on the PUP list. I think PUP list and IR may basically be the serve the same purpose now because you also sometimes hear that if a player is added to the IR before week 1 that they aren’t eligible to come off the IR list for the entire year. Now, everyone added to IR (post week 1) can come off after 4 (or more) games so the PUP list is meaningless since it’s 6 games and starts at week 1. Anyone added to PUP or IR in the preseason is gone for the year.
    • I saw Brooks maybe a few weeks ago, he was walking pretty normally. of course he wasnt running, jumping and cutting.
