The panthers have visited only 10 WRs, 1 OG, 2 OTs, 2 DTs during the draft process.

From reddit,

Kinda give you an idea of what position were leaning towards huh.

It tells you we are going to draft a WR. But it doesn't suggest we draft one in the first unless you think all 10 were first rounders. And the fact we looked at so many tells you there is not one dominant wide receiver out there and that there might be better value later in the draft.

If anything it makes me think we won't draft a WR in the first. It seems like they are checking to see who would be best to take in the second and ensuring they won't miss a star in the first.

I think that's right. I think they have checked in on so many of the top guys because one of them is bound to slip to us in Round 2. If for some reason they all are gone we have also looked at later round guys. We want a plug and play guy in Round 1. Just like Cam and Luke.

I was gonna say about the same thing, Solution. It seems to me that because this year's WR group is all so close, they're checking them all out personally to see if anything separates anyone other than what they've seen on film. The DL, OL seem pretty much set in stone for the most part. At least, it seems they all have film that would clearly identify which the Panthers would prefer.

I believe that this is just business as usual. Although I don't believe that it necessarily means that we will or won't draft a WR in the first, I do believe that it indicates that WR is perhaps the highest priority at this point in time. Just like people may assume that there is no WR truly worth the 14th pick in relative terms, the same can be said of any of our positions of need. There may not be anyone blowing anyone away this year---no matter the position---especially outside the top three to five picks.

The only flaw in the logic of "we're checking out 10 because we want some to fall in the 2nd round", is that you don't get your pick of who you think is the best of the bunch. If 5 or 7 of those guys go in the 1st round, which isn't unlikely, then you're left picking from a group you may not feel as strongly about.

I feel like we've honed in on a WR, have him on our radar, but want to do our due diligence as well as show teams that we're officially undecided on WHICH one we're going to take.

It could be that we are measuring players in the event one drops to the second round, but there is no guarantee that a top DT or OT will be there when we pick. I saw a mock recently that had Star, Floyd, and Richardson gone, All 3 LTs gone, both Guards gone. What the heck would we do? WR is to obvious choice.

I found it interesting that we visited 4 Safeties, all SS. That tells me that Godfrey is the FS from now on. Not a Godfrey fan, but we are going to throw numbers at the SS spot.

I also found it interesting that we have talked to Floyd and Short, but no Richardson. I wonder if Richardson is considered to be a 1-trick pony in the 4-3, a gap shooter who will get trapped and taken out of most run plays. Have not heard this, but I wonder. It could mean that he is exactly who we are drafting, but do not want people to know.

I think Gettlemen will try to trade down if possible. Possible trade bait: Vaccaro and T. Austin might cause a playoff team to trade up.

My hunches are that we will end up with Stedman Bailey (2nd) and Sanders Commings (4th). Expect DeAndre Hopkins to rise before the draft. I do not think we will draft our starting RG, but I think we will draft LT depth in the later rounds.

I think you are spot on.

They are looking to see the separation from teh Top 10 WR's....is one worth a #14 pick (must be heads and shoulders above the guy you could get in the 2nd).

Did we look at 10 MLB's last draft?

We know that the top 3 OT's will be gone. We know that D Jordan and Ziggy will be gone along with D Milliner. Other than those 6, nothing is guarenteed.

People suspect that Sharif will be gone and most have him going to Oakland. We will see.

But, that is 7 players who we will not have a chance to draft. Everyone else is liable to be there.
