I have a place on Sunset Beach, NC. It's an island and the last beach before reaching the SC border. About 45 minutes to North Myrtle south and 45 minutes to Wilmington north.

The island has no commercial business except a mini-market and a couple real estate offices. Go toward the west end of the island between 36-40th streets and you'll have plenty of sand to park yo' butt.

It used to be accessible only by a single-lane swinging bridge that opened every hour for the ICWW traffic. Now there's a 4-lane up and over bridge and the island seems a little more crowded because of it, but the rentals are reasonable.

Have gone to wrightsville 18 straight years. I love the laid back tude. I'm comparing of course to my days in Myrtle or Charleston.

To truly get away from it all you can't go wrong with OB.

Get some fried chicken from Roberts or a dog from Salt Works in WB.

I live across from the north side of Wrightsville, so I'm biased.

BUT it gets ridiculous in the summer, I just take the boat out to Figure Eaight or Masonboro and stay away from Wrightsville if possible. It becomes a zoo.

Look into Topsail, Oak Island, Surf City like others said. Much quieter probably. I'm sure OBX is nice too, but I've never actually been up that way, so I can't say. Although you will have Wilmington with Wrightsville, and there's a lot to do in the area...

Just stay away from Carolina Beach. And Kure. I'm pretty sure the devil lives in that area of town.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
