If he is no better than our younger options then great. He must not have been doing well in camp and maybe Kug or whoever is surprising people. 

 

Or we are going into the season with a slightly weaker O-line.

Yup, We did some restructures that pushed some of the money into future years and a paycut here and there.

 

There's a few players we can do that with, mainly Godfrey, (and CJ but I doubt he goes for that)but the main players we already redid this season. Most of those would make no sense to mess with again.

 

After this season, we are on the other side of the bonus money of Williams, Beason, Goddfrey, and Gross. Pretty much anyone on the roster besides Stewart. If we cut them, we gain cap space as opposed to losing it. This offseason we didn't have that luxury with virtually anyone, and we still managed to generate cap room with restructures with no leverage. This offseason was as bad as it gets, and it still wasn't very bad.

Yeah but it won't have the same 'blindside' feeling. Gettis knows he's competing for his job. Hangman didn't really have much competition.

Not sure if you recall, but the offensive line was abysmal with him in the line-up during that pre-season. So much, that there are pictures of Rivera chewing them out.

I don't get why people say he's a good backup.  He's really not.

 

In order to be a good backup you have to be able to play well and back your starters up when they can't play.  He doesn't play well.
