Always lock up your car and house, it doesn't matter where you live.   I learned this lesson yesterday, as my mom (who lives in a nice neighborhood over in Indian Trail/Stallings) was attacked by a guy who was trying to sell roofing.   Seen my father was out and pushed his way in and pushed her down, luckily their 6 month old German shepherd pup attacked immediately and latched on.  The guy ran out the door with dog locked onto him, hitting the pup and all that, my mom got the pup to let go and the dog is ok even after getting kicked a few times.  Attacker got away and all we know is it's one of those white work trucks with ladders on the racks and it was a white guy.  This is why there will ALWAYS be a German Shep dog in my house.  TL;DR lock your doors, no matter where.  Don't open them for these roofing people.

Yo Z.....glad your mom is OK.  You should buy that pup a nice new chew toy and treat for putting in work.

What neighborhood does she live in?  I live in that area and wanted to be on the look out

My Wells Fargo fraud dept is amazing story goes like this:

One Saturday afternoon I get a call from them over some transactions they think are hinky.  Ive been out earlier that day using the card at places like Home Depot, Target, Quick-E-Mart, a Fast Food joint, typical Saturday morning poo.  The transaction that caught their attention however was a Best Buy purchase.  Bear in mind I'm more than just a little bit of a geek as an IT professional and places like Best Buy, Game Stop, HH Gregg are common places for me to shop.

The person on the other end of the phone tells me that there was a purchase of a computer from Best Buy earlier that day and that it didn't fit my purchasing profile.  WHAT?  ME?  I purchase stuff from Best Buy on a monthly basis and I probably buy new computer gear at least ever couple of months.

Of course the charge was fraudulent and wasn't me but the fact that they could pick it out just blew my mind.

Country Woods East down Lawyers in union county, across from Emerald Lake neighborhood (I think that's the name).  Past Harris Teeter at Stevens Mill.  I'd love to know who it was and I wish the dog was fully grown.   I would advise anyone that sees a truck like this driving around suspiciously or even going door to door to let Stallings PD know so they can investigate.

Fraud depts for most banks are some of the best areas to work. And they have some freaky Minority Report stuff going on as well.

There are crime rings that work together to try and circumvent fraud monitoring.

You are better off getting a card stolen, specifically a credit over debit, then paper checks.

BOA has stopped my card numerous times because of suspicious activity, and every time it is me on the other end. I understand they want to protect my money, but got dammit it's embarrassing to be declined in public. And the transactions aren't even done out of my city.

Glad everything worked out for you.

But Holy Crap....i can't believe anyone would leave their wallet in their car and their car unlocked....intentionally.  I know you said you lived in a small town, but there are dishonest people everywhere.  I don't trust anyone.

Obviously an error in judgement.  Thought my little corner of the world was safe...stupid fantasy.
