To be honest not sure id say our D dominated. We forced turnovers but they drove on us a decent amount.

They had way more yards on the ground and through the air.

Our D dominated the game for the most part.  Near the end when the backups were in and it wasn't the QB we gameplanned for things got less awesome but it was the end of a preseason game.

Aside from a few series at the beginning of the game (basically until the Ginn PR) we looked a bit flat but what we delivered was a smothering, fun to watch, absolutely beastly defensive performance.

I hope we see a fraction of that throughout the regular season games.

Two say our D did anything less than dominate last night is ridiculous! Like stop trying to be so over analytical and face the freaking facts!!!!! 3 count it 3 defensive scores! Star and short basically living in the offensive backfield with multiple tackles for loss! Luke playing one the best halves of football I've ever seen from anyone!!! Ill say it...coooommmmeee onnnn mannnn be a fan support your team when we actually have something positive happen!!!! A whole lot of positive!!!

I was wondering if maybe the media would throw us a bone and make the headline that our defense is awesome and just destroyed the Ravens and their 100 million dollar QB. But I knew all along it was going to "Ravens bungle and goof up the game, it's only preseason."

Thank goodness that game didn't count because the Panthers won. Whew!

I get what you're saying but the whole point of a defense is to get turnovers and keep the other team from scoring as many points as the offense.  They did that in resounding fashion last night.  Flacco looked good on the first drive and the last one (against 2nd teamers) and that's generally good enough to win.  Had the offense been able to move the ball at all it might have been a blowout.

My biggest concern is that it took a punt return for a TD for them to get out of the funk they were in...but I understand it too.

    • Yeah I find myself flipping between the worst case scenario of Bryce either playing just mediocre enough for our decision makers to justify giving him a contract extension in their eyes because they want to justify drafting him. Or Bryce going back to playing poorly and us having no one else to fall back on because Pickett might be decent for one or two games but there's no one else and our locker room starts to get ugly because we went all in with our salary cap and guys careers are on the line. This scenario which IMO is the higher probability given our schedule and the amount of tape out there on Bryce is why I say if we can trade down and acquire a few more mid or late round picks we should draft a developmental QB. Not looking for a guy to be the savior but someone with the necessary physical tools and who could actually run a QB sneak. But we'll just have to see how it shakes out. I just want a competitive team but the last thing I want is the season to fall apart because we once again threw our arms up in regards to the QB room.
    • ^This. Rico was dynamite when we needed it last season, but not enough to keep but it massively upped his earning potential. It was a win-win for both sides. And he was there to cover the hole left by the injury to another RB, and hopefully his release to free agency means there's good news for us on the way. These new ones give us the opportunity to do that again, on the offensive line and elsewhere. We've got some long term question marks here and there due to injuries and age, and these players have a chance to up their value on the open market or settle down with us if the opportunity arises. And none of it ties us down with dead money down the road if it doesn't work out. And we've been in dead money hell for a decade now. Lease the ones you like, buy if you fall in love.
    • Our red zone offense was excruciatingly painful to watch last season. A half decent TE would do a lot to change that.
