Hardy extension in the works

You dont plan for or expect an injury.

Its like not driving because your scared you will get in a wreck.

He would be stupid to sign for anything other than a big long term contract.

You better read the stats...the risk reward of an injury is very high in the NFL .I am sure Hardy is aware of this.

We already have one Premium DE.  IF we sign Hardy to a extension, then Cam next year we will be in cap hell.  Then you have Luke coming up behind them.  Keep either Johnson or Hardy but we cant afford both.

I'm pretty sure that by the time we get to Luke, CJ's contract will almost be up and ready for a redo.

Its every players goal to become a elite player and command a high long term contract.

a young guy like hardy that played well last year and is on the up and up would be foolish to sign for less than he would get after another 10+ sack season.

Every player plans for unexpected injuries. Why do you think they hate being franchised and always prefer multiple year deals?

I  might be in the small numbers here as far as what people would think this. But if Hardy wants a giant deal. I say trade him to a team that really needs a DE. But in the process make that team pay to get Hardy. Hardy has done prove he can pass rush and guard against the running game. I believe Frank Alexander would do fine as starter. But if any team want Hardy. Make them pay. By asking for 2 first rounders. 1st round pick this coming year and then a 1st round the next year. That simple. It has happen before and it could happen again. Hardy is injury free, 25, and one of the best DE in the league right now. He is well worth 2 first rounders. I'm sure there is some team out there willing to give those picks up for a good DE like Hardy.

So what you are saying don't trade him or extend him. Because no way in poo someone would give up one, let alone two first round picks for him.

Madden would not even approve that trade.

And not that Hardy is not worth it, but teams would be hard pressed to give up 3rd bc most every team holds those picks sacred.

In other words if his agent wants us to give up a ton of money we can't afford to put out because of the cap hell we are in for the next 3 to 4 years. I say while we have a chance is trade him to a team willing to meet our asking price. DG and the Panthers should no settle on a 2 round pick for him or something like that. Hard is young injury free and he is one the best DEs right now. He is worth to 1st rounders all day long if there is a team willing to pay that. That or no lower then a 1st and 2nd round picks in next year draft.

.Not really. Vikings gave up 2 round picks for Jared Allen about 4 years back. As time goes on positions like DE be come more valueable every year. Unlike RB position where a good RB is a dime a dozen.

But no one would give up a first round pick for Hardy, a guy with only one year of.production.

I don't even think anyone would give us a second round pick for him. Especially since he isn't under contract but one year.

What if he walked after next season in FA? Now you don't have Hardy or your 1st or 2nd round pick.

There is no way someone would pay us that price.

You guys who want to trade him..

Its better if we sign him to a deal and then trade. We'd get more for that. Its less attractive for other teams when they are trading for 1 year's worth or Hardy. If we sign him to a deal, they trade for multiple years worth. Don't be mad about signing him to a contract.

At the end of the day, I want The Kraken here. I see the value in good DE's and its worth the money at that position.

    • An odd little vibe I've noticed here of late: some folks are "all or nothing" to an absolutely extreme level when it comes to Bryce. There are, in fact, things Bryce does well. Likewise, there are areas in which he's improved over his time here. He has, on several occasions now, legitimately helped us win games. On the flipside, there have been failures in other areas as well as coaching that we're not in any way his fault.  And finally , it is also genuinely possible that the team may see him as the future, even if we don't. The craziest part, though? It's actually possible that they're right and we're wrong. All of this is true, and more, yet if you accept any of these premises people go from zero to apesh-t in under three seconds 😳 Anything less than total disavowal of Bryce and / or agreement that he's the worst QB of all time and suddenly you're a "stan". Oy 🙄 The reality though?  Bryce is indeed an NFL quarterback. Not a great one, probably backup level good, and I've seen way worse. Now, if you run that statement through your personal Google translator and it comes back with some version of "I want to throw 50 million a year at Bryce for the next 10 years", that's not really my issue it's yours  I don't wanna make him the franchise quarterback, but it's not my call. Win or lose, the team is going to do what they think is best. And as always, if it disagrees with what I think we should do, I'm gonna hope I'm the one who's wrong. Internet clout means nothing. Watching my favorite team win at my favorite sport meas fun 😁
    • I like Icky but he was the wrong tackle to take. Learning run blocking is much easier than learning pass blocking. Cross was pass pro ready. He was the tackle we should have taken without hesitation.
    • Never saw this angle of the Tyson fight either lol.
