Dan Morgan says Bobby > Luke

There are a couple of people who might just be able to do that

McDermott does like to blitz some though, and that Double A Gap blitz is a staple of the Jim Johnson defense.

Mikell went on record saying that This defense is different from the McDormont defenses in the past, because there is less blitzes from the LBs because of our Monster front 7.

Which is logical.

that said, Jim Johnson's attack was essentially a Dick LeBeau style zone blitz run primarily out of a 4-3 alignment.  You'll still see it used some.

Because Wagner was used more in those roles. That's like saying "Well Cam had more TDs than Wagner." Not really Wagner's job.

Kuechly rarely was asked to rush the passer last year.

Irrelevant. Whatever they were asked to do, did they make plays? Did you not see the quot I was responding to, that Kuechly makes plays vs. Wagner not so much?

The great need on this board to lionize Kuechly is overblown when comparing to Wagner. It's not as if there is more than a hair's breadth between them, and in my opinion, not that much. People here want to act like the impact on each other's team is somehow profund when in reality both teams havea kick-ass MLB/ILB. These two are very much a wash in terms of team strengths for this game.

The only meaningful comparison between the two teams' LBs is the group as a whole. On that scale, it's again a wash, with perhaps a small nod to Carolina, but the comparison breaks down a bit because of the hybrid D Seattle uses. The LBs for Seattle are LBs, but some are alss DEs, etc.

Still, in a traditional 4 - 3, give you a slight edge, but it is slight. And, if Beason is not 100%, then it goes to Seattle.

That is worth talking about. Kuechly vs. Wagner is just so much hype.

the "why can't we just accept that they're both great!" is always the argument of the loser.

Kuechly is a superior linebacker. He improves his team more. He's the better player. Wagner is just another good LB to come into this league and will be forgotten about when another set come out. Kuechly will be remembered as one of the greats.

I've yet to see some rational form of a "12th man" step up to the plate which leaves me to believe their fanbase is just about as pathetic as the organizations attempt at expounding this "loud voice" that is anything other than a fabricated acoustic version of nickleback...

    • This play was never designed to go to either DJ or Odunze. The primary read is Burden who is stymied early, with the outlet being Kmet if Caleb doesn't like the option for Burden. Given the situation it's pretty obvious the simple play is to take the free yards with Kmet, or if you want to be aggressive just wait a beat longer for Burden to uncover on his double move. If Moore was ever going to be a viable target in this play then Caleb should have started out reading Odunze to hold the safety in the middle and then coming to Moore, but because he started the snap staring down the right and then came back to the middle late it made it where the safety's leverage remained to the outside of Moore, so he would never have imagined that pass actually being thrown to him in that situation. Realistically DJ's best option in that context is to just occupy the safety to leave a hole open for Caleb to get it to Burden, which is probably why he throttles down vs carrying the safety across.
    • Even with Sonny Styles still on the board I thought it's a no brainer to address the Oline after Icky's injury.  And how can you pass up Fano at 19 given our situation. Then the rest of the draft just kind of made sense with maybe the exception of Klubnik.  But if Canales can fix him and Young goes down. . .I think it's a solid pick. What do you think of this draft?
