how bad would it be. cause i really feel this who throw us into being consistent contenders. getting Nicks would also allow us to go Hog Mollie in the first 2 rounds or even elite CB instead of having to use it on a #1 WR. i think this could be our best scenerio

Signing Nicks should not take drafting a WR out of the equation

it doesn't but I would give us the ability to get best available OT and then get Wr in the 2nd and CB in the 3rd

That is a very, very good point. if we can get a solid vet to put opposite of steve, then grab a WR to groom within the first two rounds, we could also focus on the line and secondary.

Nicks or Maclin would probably be the best bets for that equation. both would be solid #2's (maclin has #1 potential) and then we get the WR of our future in this draft.

exactly and just in case both of there injury history cause them not to workout we would still have a future #1 wr on the roster

The Panthers guaranteed Jonathan Stewart's $1.5 million base salary for 2014 when they reworked his contract in the 2013 offseason.

The base salary is only $1.5 million, however, and Stewart's $6.875 million option bonus doesn't appear to be guaranteed. $2.5 million of his $4.25 million salary in 2015 is additionally guaranteed. The bottom line for GM Dave Gettleman will be that Stewart is owed $8.375 million in 2014 salary and bonuses, and he isn't worth half that much at this stage of his career. He'll almost certainly have to accept a pay cut to stay in Carolina.

Per rotoworld...

His contract was reworked last offseason and $6.875m no longer guaranteed.  If we cut him, we'll get hit with only $1.5m this year and $2.5m next year.  Stewart is a goner... Gettlemagic.

Why in the holy hell wouldn't we bring back Anderson? He's a good backup QB. Works well with Cam. Is OK in spot duty.

Also, bring back:

Ginn

Mitchell

Gano

Gross

Munnerlyn

Hartsock or Brockel

Cole

And maybe LaFell and Bell. Don't be shocked if they're here again, but not in starting roles. I've thought for months that Ginn should be the No. 2 receiver.

Derek Anderson QB UFA Panthers TBD --  1-2 Year deal

Colin Cole DT UFA Panthers TBD --  1-2 year deal

Graham Gano K UFA Panthers TBD -- long term 4-5 year deal

Ted Ginn Jr. WR UFA Panthers TBD -- I'd offer him 2 years at 1 - 2 mil a year
Jordan Gross LT, T UFA Panthers TBD -- Get the feeling he'd like to play for another season or two.  Should be good value.  2 year deal
Captain Munnerlyn CB UFA Panthers TBD -- I'd like to re-sign him but he is wanting big money.  We will only sign if he takes a low $ for 2 year.
Richie Brockel FB RFA Panthers TBD --   Cut
Ben Hartsock TE UFA Panthers TBD -- Vet min, 1 -2 year deal

I'm curious to see what they can do if anything about the dead weight contracts, I'm personally all for keeping Hardy if at all possible and see what happens with Cam.  Cam is still under contract and we can tag him for 2 more years on top of that meaning he's here at least 3 more years one way or another but it would be smart to sign him now with an heavy incentive based contract and save money in the long term.

Hardy we would have to either Tag or Sign big now plus tag. money is there to do this if not for 3 of our dead money contract so I'm curious how much of those we can dump or designate as a june 1st cut.

    • As long as Morgan is the GM, Young will be the QB. Young is 100% Morgan's guy. The contract extension is pretty much guaranteed unless Young suffers a career ending injury this season.
    • People really need to stop placing Dan Morgan on some kind of infallible pedestal. He is absolutely in lockstop with Tepper regarding Bryce and has been all along. As far as the team being okay with 185 passing yards per game. We better have a proven monster RB in our backfield then. Presently that guy is not on the roster. Chuba has one outlier season so far and the other guys have proven nothing. Not what you would call a great recipe. The only thing we can hope at this juncture is that the highest paid OL in the league for the second year in a row elevates their play from last season and opens up some massive holes even our RB's can get through. But it still doesn't resolve the issue of predictability. With no viable passing game it is much easier to shut down any run game. No defenses are scared of Bryce's arm. It is what it is.
    • i lived in Atlanta from 84'to 92' & back then it was indeed a very different time without the internet & access to information 24/7. shortly after i moved back home to western NC around 93' or 94' the Carolina Panthers were awarded an NfL franchise & began their inaugural season in 95' so ike you i have seen the Carolina Panthers, ,the NFL ,technology, fans all evolve over the many a moon & years now some for the better & others not so ...just saying
