Dockery not playing

The crazy thing about our secondary injuries from last week  is we sucked before that point therefore nothing really changed. If anything we may have gotten a bit better. Not promising victory but I promise a better performance. This is a step up or shut up game for the secondary! We have no more speculation after this batch!

Eli is a 2x Super Bowl Champion. Yet you think he'll be easier to stop than a rookie in his 2nd game? Your blind optimism rivals Ron Rivera's.

He may, we'll see. Our DEs were playing contain on Manuel and didn't seem to be going after sacks. With pressure Eli makes mistakes.

It is hard to get pressure when your corners play 10yd off the line. Eli will eat us alive hitting Nicks on quick slants.

All of our corners don't do that. Hopefully Captain, Dockery, and Florence play well enough that Norman doesn't sniff the field.

Dockery is not much of a drop off physically and may be a step up mentally.  He is a good tackler in an era where tackling can sometimes seem like a lost art.  That takes focus.  Focus is exactly what our DBs lack at crucial times.  Will he dominate Cruz or Nicks? No.  Will he be in the right place at the right time?  Yes.  More than we can say for Norman.

In terms of rattling Eli.  It can be done.  He is a phenomenal QB in the playoffs/superbowl, but on any given Sunday, Eli can suck.  He will turn the ball over.  His receivers need time to get open for him to have a great day.  If the d-line is really that good, and if they were ever going to come in and stomp on a QBs neck, it needs to be this week.

I would love to see something similar to how we rattled Matt Ryan in the pocket last year in Atlanta.  7 sacks plus at least one turnover.  We held him down for a long, long time.  Of course, he still managed to beat us (Nakamura) in the end, but it was the best I've seen Hardy/Johnson look together.  Now with Starr and Dwan and KK, this is really a great opportunity to see our line get great pressure with just 4 rushers.  Don't expect a lot of blitzing.  Chances are we won't need to.

I love that Dockery could be the beneficiary of our improved D line.

Glad to hear Doc is back on the field...definitely a good thing for the secondary.I think they also need to get Chase in the game flow as much as possible today,I know Beason needs the reps but he has been dismal in coverage, and Eli will be throwing it around the field.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
