Robert Lester

Hard to judge him based on this game with the way the front four played. Encouraging that he didn't look like he was out of place, but tough to say if he played great or just average.

Three tackles 2 Assist and a pick.  What do you want?

It's a team sport.  You are only as good as your front line is and Visa Versa.  Many of the sacks were coverage sacks.   I would assume Lester was covering something.   Am I making him a  spot on the Pro Bowl?  Not yet, but the guy didn't get burnt and he had a pick. Shoulda had two in his first NFL game.  That's good enough for me.

Just amazing on how critical some fans can be.

Being critical and being a realist are two different things. The play by the front four and even the linebackers was on another planet today and the secondary had the easiest job as a result. I want to see that principal in reverse before I get excited about what i'm looking at here. We need to see a game where we aren't collapsing the pocket on every play before we start throwing too much love at te secondary.

Like I said... Amazing how fans can be so critical.

Man had a great game and valuable experience.

So you watch the tapes.  Scrutinized each and every play?

Realist?   What is REAL is he didn't get burnt and had one interception and could of had two.   Part of the reasons the front four got some of their seven sacks was because of coverage sacks. (then again maybe you didn't have the volume up on your TV cause they said it over and over)  So like I said.  He was covering somebody.

Critical is when you make an opinion based on a WHAT IF.   Your being critical and not realistic.

I'm very happy the kids played well in their first game.  We had a LOT of youth out there today.

BUT!  We had a lot going for us today.  Now we have two weeks to prepare for Arizona.  How much carry over can we expect?  What happens when we don't get those hits and sacks against Palmer?  I mean, Palmer doesn't like to get hit which we've seen, BUT what happens when he doesn't get hit?  What if they decide to go for the short game where our 7 yard cushions get exposed?

As a fan, I'm thrilled these guys came out and had a great game.  That was on the backs of our front 7.  How much growing up are they going to do in two weeks?  Can they keep receivers covered for 3-4 seconds at a time, to allow Hardy, CJ, Star, and KK to blow them to pieces?  That's going to be the big thing.  Also, they have to cover Larry Fitzgerald...  The last Panther who could keep up with him retired so who has got that job now?  Not being a debbie downer here, but lets also remember who the Panthers have been under Rivera.

I hope I'm wrong, and I hope we can hold them up enough so that our Front 7 can make Palmer pay (cleanly and legally of course!).

Also a fumble recovery.

I doubt Godfrey is back next season. It's great a rookie can step up and help us out at safety.

UDFA at that.

He'll have his screw-ups but they all do.   I think if we can keep the pressure up on the front end until the back end gets their poo together we could really make a run this season.

We gotta play a full game like yesterday.

Everybody looked good yesterday in the secondary.  We will have many, many more challenges this year to see if it was an anomaly or if our secondary is going to give our front seven significant help this season.  I, like some am taking this win with caution, as difficult as it is to do.  I know our potential, I still don't trust us to live up to it quite yet.

    • Just take BPA and if it so happens to be a WR then so be it or try to trade down and pick up some extra draft capital. You can draft for needs in rounds 2 through 7, but that first round pick needs to be someone who can come in and be an impact player.  Personally, I'd want us to take Blake Miller or Spencer Fano to man the RT spot for the next decade plus after Moton hangs it up and who could possibly play LT if Ickey doesn't come back to 100%. But if the grade on those guys don't match up to the 19th pick or if we have a WR graded much higher than I'll have no problem with the team going a different direction.  I do think the coaching staff is lower on XL than they are willing to admit publicly so a WR pick wouldn't shock me. The offense and Bryce looked better with Coker playing the Z than XL so if we upgrade that spot, it'll allow us to be more versatile with our WR alignments as both Tmac and Coker were pretty good lining up in the slot.
    • It's the suggestion.  "We can't draft a receiver in the first round, because that would be three times in a row. The FO doesn't know what it's doing. We can't do that [blah blah blah]." Stick with your board! If receiver is at the top of the board. If TE is at the top of the board, so be it. Morgan used free agency to give the Panthers that flexibility. It's that simple.
