David Newton article on Panthers Domination!

Keep Pounding

Your perspective seems to be, if the players dominate and the Panthers win, Rivera gets credit.  But if we lose, it's because the players didn't execute.

And yours seems to be if the Panther's win, it's because of the players yet if the Panther's lose, it's because of RR.

The Panthers deserve credit and that includes Rivera and Shula.  I love how people crap all over them when they make mistakes but when they call one hellava game it is :See it was only 1 game, just wait until next game.  Well it was only 2 games where we struggled, and one was against a Seattle team that has dominated everyone else. I don't see anyone saying lets wait and see. Funny how folks use a double standard here.  Truth is that Rivera and the team have won 6 out of their last 9 games and look much better than last year.

It is all about perspective.....

I think the thing that bothers most of us is that its like de ja vous all over again. For the third season in a row we are 1-2 and losing close games. Yes we have won 6 out of the last 9. Last year at this same time we had won 5 out of the last 9.

Im very cautiously optimistic at this point.

I go to all the home games and watch all the away ones.  I am just as disappointed as everyone else particularly after investing my whole day on Sunday.  Like on Sunday I went to the game half expecting a blowout but not by us.  I went anyway and rooted like hell and got rewarded.  I understand folks concerns and issues I really do....

The thing is we need to see positive consistency. The only thing we have seen so far is we are consistently bad when it matters, and consistently great when we are out of contention. We might win a game, but not back to back, unless we have no chance to make playoffs. Its just been our history the last two years.

I believe we did great, but I think most 'sensible' people will agree, we need to see that kind of outing more than once to roll out the SUPER BOWL BOUND BANNER (realistically).

Rivera and co. called a great game, but need the same from them. POSITIVE CONSISTENCY.

Omitting the first half of the past two seasons.

You act like this is Rivera's first year. He has won 5 games now while not eliminated mathematically from the playoffs. Fans had every right to be upset starting out looking awful again.

Hopefully Rivera keeps a winning mentality, not defending against a loss mentality that has plagued his entire head coaching career.

This is the one question I want our reporters to ask him, after naming off every example.

Props to David Newton for recognizing our win & not the giants loss. I can't say that for a lot of other media outlets though. I was watching PTI today and the topics list on the side of the screen was as follows

Giants

49ers/Colts

Packers/Bengals

Ravens/Texans

Maybe not those exact games or order but we all see what's fugged up wit this picture.

Superbowl wins = uh.. superbowl wins!

That goes without saying. My post was in response to another post that read: wins = respect. The Panthers doesn't get any respect from the media, even after shutting out the Giants. They have talked more about what the Giants were and have been doing wrong more that what the Panthers did right. They're looking for reasons that the Panthers were able to do that to the Giants. So my post simply stated that in order to get consistent respect, we have to win consistently. And no, I'm not saying that I want or need the media's respect, because I don't, but everyone want to here they're team talked about in a good light in every conservation.

For what it is worth. Aaron Rogers is 5-14 in games decided by 4 points.

Why does he get mad props as some clutch QB? Because they win more than they lose. When we are a winning team. All these negatives will be put on the back burner.

We have to continue to win. No one, including most of our own fans, will give us any props until we do.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
