Beason traded?

A 7th for Beason?

Beason isn't good right now but 7th rounders rarely make a roster.....would much rather have Beason as a backup in our current roster.

Dave Flippin Gettlemen....scratching some buddies back in NY. Win for NY, loss for us. Diverse backup LB considering one of our starters has 3 ACL injuries....> than a 7th round pick.

Well, this is an interesting development, just hope it doesn't affect the team Sunday.

If anything: This should help the team. It will let Rivera and all the other players know, they can't rest on their laurels (for Rivera last week), and if they can't produce, their gone!!!

I see no negative fall out. And if so, then neither Rivera nor the Panthers were worth much to begin with. Remember, these guys are 1-2, and claim they're trying to have a fast start to the season, and make the playoffs, for the first time in what seems like eons.

If anything (if what you're saying is true), this would be a "test" of Rivera's leadership skills, as he will probably never get another Head Coaching gig (yes he's been that bad), if the Panthers have another poor start this season. He can't let that happen (especially following the Giant demolition, and his 0-2 record following byes).

No, we paid for the dead money this year in the restructure. His contract has an optional void after this year. There is no dead money on the books after this year regardless of whether we trade or not. Which is why it's smart that we made a trade, either way Beason was gone, but at least this way we get a late round pick.

And your positive about that? I'm not being a dick I'm just concerned this is another Hurney cap nightmare that G-man just had to bite the bullet and get what e could.

With all due respect, Beason is worth nothing now to any NFL team. What did you expect to get really?

Exactly. Plus, it's ridiculous for chuck to suggest that Gettleman was helping his former team. That would be a major conflict of interest, and while I'm not an expert in contract law, I imagine that would result in a breach of his contract with the Panthers.

I wish Beason all the best. He's the only jersey I currently own and he's my favorite player on the team. It hurt me me to just check his wikipedia page and see it Red White and Blue instead of Panthers Colors but I understand this needed to be done. Beason is made for the middle and he just can't fill that role anymore.  It sucks but it's understandable.

Jumping the gun, it hasn't been announced yet as a 7th. It may be a 5th, for all way know. Either way, I'd say the value is a push.

What

Why?

Because people are acting like he is garbage...

The disrespect in this thread for what Beason has accomplished is phenomenal.

Sure he is a shell of his former self but what does this team gain by trading him?

Unless we find out that Beason asked to be traded after losing his starting job, then I will stick to my guns and say that this trade is not worth it.

    • With Schoen and Dan Morgan being tight I’d figure we knew this was coming and since he is released, Dan didn’t bite.    But, a quick search says this is at least 80% cap related. They have No cap space and save 8 or 9 million with releasing him.  He has been a captain his entire time there. 145 tackles this year.  They are picking 5th with a new staff and looking at Styles. Hitting that age 30 season and had a disc issue last year (meaning 2024) that did not require surgery.  I haven’t really watched him play but he activated the antennae.
    • OK, we are letting our top RB go.  We have Chuba, Etienne, and Brooks.  Imagine a player who could LEGITIMATELY play the slot and back up at RB?  I am sure he'd be a special team player as well.  I noticed him at the combine, and thought, "Here is a late rounder who could stand out as a slot and provide depth at RB. Without further ado....(I know one Huddler who might be able to tell us more about this guy): Navy running back/wide receiver Eli Heidenreich headlined the 2026 NFL Combine for the Midshipmen, running an official 4.44-second 40-yard dash and recording 16 reps on the bench press. Recognized as a versatile, "Swiss army knife" offensive weapon, Heidenreich solidified his draft stock as a potential day three target.    Eli Heidenreich (RB/WR - Navy) 2026 Combine Performance: 6'0" 200 lbs.   40-Yard Dash: 4.44 seconds. 10-Yard Split: 1.55 seconds. Vertical Jump: 35.5 inches. Broad Jump: 10' 0". Bench Press: 16 Reps. Highlights: Showcased as a premier receiving threat from the backfield, having left Navy as the program's all-time leader in receiving yards (1,994). High character.  Smart.  Maybe, just maybe....
