Yeah Kiko Alonso is going ham, Star would have to get at least 8 sacks to be considered Hell if Lester was playing he probably could be in the running at the moment

Is it just me, or have Star and Short outplayed CJ/Hardy this year for the most part? Love the 2 rookies.

I saw one play that Star made a TFL on where he was off the ball and half way through the A gap before #65 at LG even flinched. His get-off was unreal.

I think it's becoming pretty clear that the "issue" with Short's motor was the number of snaps he was playing in college.  Dude never came off the field.

"of the year" awards aren't about impact, they're about stats.  It's virtually impossible for a NT to put up the stats needed to win DROY.  You have to go back to 1994 to find the last DT who won the DROY award prior to Ndamokung Suh.  DROY is pretty much a LB award.  That's generally the position that piles up the stats to get it.  9 of the last 10 DROYs were LBs.

 

Kind of like how a OROY is pretty much between QB, WR, and RB.  Those are the stat positions.  Hell, all you have to do is look at the trend of that award to see the trend of the NFL overall.  That award used to just be the "best rookie RB" award.  A RB almost always won it.  The NFL was about running the football and defense.  In the last decade or so, that has shifted to the "best rookie QB" award.  4 of the last 5 OROYs were QBs.

Love these two guys, they've been great this year, star bounced back after a couple quiet games. Defense has a bright future if we can manage to keep hardy

The front seven Let Them be" Magnificent  Seven" is going to make every QB a scrambling QB.  No one throws on run as well as they do in pocket with a little time.  Not going to happen, we run them all over place and got rotational guys to do same thing play after play.  Big O lineman gets tired out real fast and D gives ball to Cam and Co. 

All this running make our safties kinda like out fielders, by the time season over with we will have some fine safties!!!

it's because they're still being treated like rookies.

 

opposing offenses aren't ignoring star and short, but they're still putting their focus mainly on johnson and hardy.
