that guy in the top right corner is a  friend of mine. he's an awesome guy that has handled his situation with grace. he was a student at a college in tennessee who was home in  kannapolis for christmas break and had some pain in his foot and leg that he thought was just from running.  it turned out be some rare and aggressive cancer and he opted to have his leg amputated to stop the spread and because of  damage done to his leg the best chance of running again  with a prosthetic leg. he just had a spot removed from his lung...which there were several earlier, but only  one was there when it was time for the surgery to take place. he's adjusted really well to life with  prosthetic leg and everything else that has happened this year.  he's got an awesome family and his dad is one of my favorite people in the world (in fact he presided over the wedding ceremony for me and my wife). he's also got an incredible support system in place from church and school and quite a few other places.

anyway, i just thought that was cool and i know my buddy thought it was as well. just a really cool thing cam did that will be remembered.

My son is going to be at Levine's on Dec. 2nd for ACL surgery on his left knee. He is 10 and will be his second ACL surgery. He tore is right ACL 2 years ago. Injured right knee at practice getting pushed into the goal post and tore his left knee 4 weeks ago getting tackled during a game.

We are going to Bucs game on Dec. 1st and spending the night in Charlotte before his surgery. I am going to try to contact the Panthers to see if my son can meet some of the players. Would like for him to meet TD to give my son some encouragement.

Ouch....10 years old and two ACL tears?

What sport does he play?

Football and basketball. First was freak accident since he hit a goal post, at least that is what I thought. After seeing the video of how he got tackled 4 weeks ago I just think he had weak ACL's. He got tackled high while his left foot was planted. I guess it twisted just enough to pop. Both MRI's looked exactly the same. Clean tear in both knee's. Luckily we found a type of surgery that by passes the growth plates using an IT Band Graft. He had to have surgery in Boston 2 years ago and we found a Dr. at Levine's that does the same type of surgery and was a fellow of the Dr. in Boston. She just moved to Charlotte within the last year and glad we only have to travel 1 1/2 hours instead of spending the week in Boston.

His right knee is stronger than ever and we will get his left knee just as strong. He will be ready for basketball next year and will play football again in two years.

I wish him all the best, you should reach out to TD directly via Twitter - he's a great guy and I have no doubt he'd be happy to meet with your son and offer some words of encouragement.

At 10 your not as naive as say an 8 year old. Being 22 and in a car accident, I was cooped up in CMC for a month. You don't forget things like that and I can tell you it'd be something that will affect the rest of his life. Best dad on the huddle award goes to you sir.

I am sure he will make all the kids call him Cammy Cam.

Cam is only doing this bc he is the Panther's Richie Incognito. He is hiding something clearly and bullying teammates when not fake-supporting children. - fake Mike Florio

Seriously he is always in functions like these in the community and gets very little publicity. He only has articles about working out alone and such. Shameful as Cam has been nothing but a model Panther since day one...and please on post game interviews.

    • I mean, I hear what y'all are saying, but Derrick could have been positive without being negative.  He essentially accused people of not seeing Bryce's improvement because of their desire to not be wrong. He could've kept it about Bryce and the team. For example, he could've said: "Bryce has made strides, and we believe in him. This coming season, his continued improvement will turn a lot of people into believers."  That would've been supportive of his teammate and sent a message to the doubters. That being said, his tact almost summoned and left the door ajar for more skepticism. That's my take anyway. Bryce has improved from the bottom to perhaps skirting the line between the bottom third and mid-third at best...after three seasons. We've all seen it. Yay! In my mind, Bryce has still got a long way to go and a short time to get there, but my expectations are top five--at least top 10--always! Yes, I am a fan, so there's that, but I don't believe it's unreasonable to expect excellence. Hopefully the Panthers FO has the same mindset (and that doesn't even necessarily have anything to do with what we gave up to acquire him). That is the lens I'm looking through. Derrick Brown has his homer glasses on. He just needs to be more diplomatic and thoughtful with his words in my opinion, but I get it that he's a good teammate.
    • I have no doubt the Canes will come out like gangbusters, huge bounce back from game one - my only concern is Freddie, if he lets in a couple of softies and Dobes stays hot we could be in trouble.
