Panthers Top 5 Offensive Line? PFF

yep. for this coming offseason, make sure we have gross and wharton coming back and silatolu healthy and then focus on solidifying that right side in draft and FA. the next year focus on replacing gross.

of cross add top end WR and another pass catching TE would be in order as well this year.

i would love for our first three picks this coming year to be some order of RT, WR, and RG.

The biggest bite in the azz winning brings? Picking so late in the round.

That said, I still expect our first two, and maybe even three, picks to play significant minutes. If we could sneak in any, or all, LT, WR, and a CB into that group, it would make us better.

Even a late round LT should improve our Line, but a late round WR could still improve our WR corp., and a second round CB is going to push for playing time.

Lots of options. Just not great options.

WR, is the one position that scares me more than the inlaws on the first weekend of the month. We need a Stud. FA WR would be expensive, and a high draft pick can take some time to develop. IMO, Gettlemen knows WR talent. I am hoping he sees someone that can make an impact. Because if we can nab a Stud WR, we are going to be dangerous.

Lots of options. Just not ideal options.

IF Kugbila can get healthy we may not even have to draft a guard in this draft.  What a luxury that would be.  I still think tackle is priority #1, but maybe only one instead of two in this draft.  Congrats to all responsible for this impressive and unforeseen ranking.

Going to be interesting how we handle the RG position this off-season. Do we trust Kugs? Scott, and Williams will be back. Do we spend a pic on a RG, and add to the muddle? Or do we roll the dice and go with what we have?

We land a Stud LT, move Gross to RT, and we can go to war with what we have. Add a quality RG to the mix, and we can win any battle.

We have a staff chucked full of quality teachers. Rivera has put together one whale of a staff.

Most of Chandler's mistakes were mental rather than physical, he missed a few pickups on blitzes and stunts. That's actually encouraging, you can fix those much quicker than technique and athletic issues.

That's encouraging considering Bell just doesn't have the physical tools to be better than hot garbage.

If we can solidify the right side in the offseason we should be in really good shape for the near future.

Unfortunately we need to include consideration for replacing the old guys on the left in that off season plan.

Hard to say if our pick (#32), will be ideal or not. On PFF's top 10 rookies, as of now, only 2 (Star and Richardson) were first rounders. At least the tackle and receiver positions are deep this year. And at least we're not the Colts and Redskins, without a pick for their QBs that Mike Golic thinks are better than Cam.

our only weakness is the RT position in my eyes for the future. like someone else said find our LT in 2015 and sign gross for one more year. we need explosion on offense bad. we need to get Cam weapons. that is top priority over everything in my eyes

If we were to add a Stud WR to this team it would put us up with the best. Stud, and Lafell out wide. Smitty, and Teddy in the slots. With DWill, Stewy, Tolbert, or even Barner leaking out.

Yeah, that's some weapons.

Upgrade the O-line, add a Stud WR, and maybe a Stud CB as well, and this team is Super Bowl contenders. We are already a Playoff team, keep drafting well, and we will be in the SB discussion.

With how Gettlemen has filled out the roster. If we hear about a FA, he may actually be a good player. He has to be a starting quality talent. I don't care how we go about filling these last few spots, I just want it fixed.

IMO, by the end of the year, Gettlemen will have a firm grasp on who we are, and what we need to do to get better. How he handles this off-season will tell us a great deal about who he is. We have a football guy running the show. Let's see how he plays this.

And that was so cool to say. I've been a Lions fan for 50 years, and a Panther fan since inception, and they travel parallel paths. Minus the Millen, and lack of QB, years, the Lions do what we do. Draft, develop, decide, and redraft.

Great to see the Panthers doing the right kind of things. Changing the culture, and leading this whole franchise/fanbase into a bright future.

Sorry for the tangents. Turns out, when the wife isn't telling me what to say, I actually have something to say. Who knew?

I'll leave you with this. If we add 3 rotational guys in next years draft. We are Super Bowl contenders. Just that plain and simple.

You got me thinking. Best case, ?, Amini, Kalil, ?, Gross. ? #1 can be fixed 1 of 2 ways. 1. Draft. You may not get a Stud, but we should still get a solid starter. 2. FA. FA LT are not cheap, nor are they expensive. This is one position, that a little money goes a long way. If the right FA LT is out there, we may make a run.

We have a glut of guys to play RG on that line. Another one of those questions we have of the Gman. How he addresses this O-line is a major concern among us fans.

Bell had a horrific start this year but has generally played ok since then. Not good but not awful either.

You tell em'. I had Bell last year as my "Adopted Panther". He was playing rather well at the end of the year. I also believe he is pretty consistent this year. He still gets beat by speed, but other than that, he can play the position well enough.

If he could cut off those speed guys, or reroute them around Cam, he would be a pretty well rounded RT.

Lets be real here.  Did you expect Chandler in his first start to be great against the 49ers?  They aren't exact slouches on the defensive line.  I was pretty pleased it wasn't worse really.

Exactly.  It could have been much much worse.  Like our DL against SF Dline worse :)

Also I don't care what PFF says.. Silatolu coming into his own blah blah.. he sucked.   Line has played 3 X better with Wharton.  We need 2 guards and a tackle.  Possibly 2 tackles and 2 guards if Gross retires after the season.

I feel like the running lanes could be a little longer and the holes could be a little wider.. protection better.

regardless of our statistical rank, there is much to improve on. takes time though cant happen overnight.

The fact that Shula can mask these o-line deficiencies is a true testament to him.
