yeah that sounds about right to me. Cam's run can change games, Tolbert is efficient, Williams a threat to break a big one, and Stewart falls forward. 

 

I still remember 2005 when we were basically down to the some no name scrub in the Seattle playoff game. Lots of running backs is always a good problem to have.

Couldn't disagree more.  I think he still has that same burst, and he's shown it several times this season.

Spot on with DWill, he HAS lost a step, but the biggest issue the guy just can't create holes, if the offensive line isn't a beast, he just dances around and barely gets positive yardage.  The other guys at least can get a couple yards or sometimes create holes.  DWill was a monster in 2008 when half the posters on the huddle could have had a 5ypc with that line lol.

Right now, if the game was on the line with three yards to go, I'd only trust three rushers to get those harsh yards.

As much as I love D-Will, he isn't one of them.

1. Cam

2. Tolbert

3. Stewart

 

I love me some DeAngelo. But, Tolbert and Stewart both need more touches. Heck, everytime Tolbert runs the ball he seems to get 2 or 3 yards after initial contact. Williams goes down instantly, it seems when he is first touched. We would be much better off pounding the rock with Tolbert and Stewart and using DeAngelo on 3rd downs. The other team's defenses are stacking the box with 8 at least, Williams isn't going anywhere.

Deangelo and Sewart have both been anemic. Stewart gets stuffed as much as Deangelo does.

 

Stewart can get the extra yard up the middle but Williams gets the longer runs when he can find space and has better hands. This has been true for as long as they have played together and isn't that different now.

 

Tolbert is a great situational back.

I was gonna start a thread on how we need more production at some point from our rb's. I'm not panicking but it would be good to see.

Quietly I was not sure how the offense would adjust to Stew coming back.

But if used right you could treat the rb's like relievers in baseball. Have some set up men middle reliever types then a closer.

Running wise the Panthers are built nicely to play while ahead.

But anytime you can improve while on a hot streak you can't complain.

      Ok fair to judge only his starts.  But you do acknowledge that going from "he's waaaay above league average in a number of categories" to "here's a single stat where he's above league average (not "waaaay") and another where he is exactly at the league average" is a pretty significant backpedal, no?  I'm guessing he's probably in the ~10th range for completion percentage too if we're only looking at starts (I'm too lazy to isolate his starts and do the calculations), so I'll grant you that one too.  But I don't think completion percentage is all that meaningful as a standalone stat if it isn't bolstered by good TD%, Y/A, etc. On that note, for how much people like posting Passing Charts in here (*cough* CRA) - if you peep Shough's passing charts, he hasn't completed a single 20+ yard pass in the past 3 games combined.  His last one was in Week 13 against the Dolphins, which was a single pass of 24 yards.  I just want to be consistent in how we apply our standards - I think it's always been warranted to criticize Bryce for it (even dating back to his rookie season), but do we suddenly not care about that with Shough? And yeah I did acknowledge that Saints' fans have reason to be excited about him and complimented his poise, which is giving my props.  Still not sure I agree that he looks better than a "ton" of QBs nor do I think you or anyone have really demonstrated that.  I think you are generally one of the more reasonable level-headed posters which is why I'm confused at what I consider to be rather hyperbolic language about Shough.

      It is a popularity contest.  The selection does have meaning though. It is also 1 of the criteria that is considered for the HOF. The game does not have any significance. The team hasn't been to the playoffs in nearly a decade. That's why they don't get primetime national coverage. To the victors go the spoils.
