FYI: Would be "shocking" if Giants re-sign Nicks...

Hey guess what. Can't fix all of our problems through the draft. I know that's something a lot of posters can't understand, but it's true.

No sh*t.

You go with what is most fitting and the highest on our board on draft day.  Fill the remaining needs prior and post draft according to what makes sense.

So quick to be a dick.

Some of you need to realize Nicks is not the same reciever he was 2 years ago. He rarely gets any seperation any more and that's a huge concern if you're thinking about signing a WR with a history of injuries. He's not getting any faster.

Unless of course him not getting seperation is Eli's fault. Nicks has had 1 maybe 2 good games this year and that came against Philly and Dallas.

Yeah he had good numbers last week but 3 of his 5 catches came in the fourth when the game was out of reach and one on a Hail Mary.

Can someone try and sell me on Nicks? Because I just don't see how signing him would benefit this team. We already have Stewart eating a ton of money doing nothing, Nicks will most likely miss a few games every year during his career.

And "he's better than what we got" is not a valid point. That's like giving a homeless man dog poo to eat because he's got nothing. Doesn't make that dog poo look any better.

Our WR's are our DT's of last year, the best way to upgrade this position is through the draft. The FA list of WR's isn't worth spending any kind of actual money on. To beat team like Seattle and New Orleans we need playmakers. Draft 2 WR's or 1 WR and 1 athletic TE next year and keep Ginn and move Smitty to the slot.

Keep in mind, money is really tight this off season.

this is a case where gettleman is the best possible GM to have... he's supposedly a free agent guru AND he'll know what hicks can do better than probably anyone in the NFL.

if we don't get him it'll be for damn good reason, and if we do i'll be excited as hell because it probably means he's everything we hope he could be.

If we got Nicks and pair him with a 1st round WR we could be set for a long time. I think an eltie WR corp can make up for our deficiency in secondary play. Our D can get stops, we just can't rely on them to do it down after. If Seattle with a legit D have a good offense to complement it.

If he's better than what we got and comes cheap, how is that not a valid point?

Again, Nicks' down year is what LaFell does on average. Even a little better.

Zero TD's. Zero.

As in not even one.

Whatever your argument is, I reply "Zero."

I don't really want Nicks, but I am not sure if that really means anything.  Steve Smith had two td's in 2010, and got them in the last two games of the season.   While the Giants offense isn't as bad as us in 2010, its pretty bad and I have no doubt he can do better next year.

    • Today, we are all Kucci... I miss our feral Russian attack goalie!
    • That was a good segment. Watched every minute of it and would highly recommend it to all fans.
    • "So much of what the Panthers are going to do next week isn't dictated by their preference, but by what happens above them. That's another benefit of not getting locked into need. For instance, if you're thinking you want a receiver, seeing five or six of them go off the board and reacting by taking the sixth or seventh off your list instead of the first (or second or third) something else isn't necessarily wise." https://www.panthers.com/news/ask-the-old-guy-back-into-the-weeds-of-the-nfl-draft-bryce-young-charlotte-hornets-mock-draft This is what some don't seem to get, I don't care how many times it is said: You're NOT going to draft an inferior person at one position, just because that position is perceived as, or is in fact, a bigger need. That would basically nullify, or at least lessen, the reason why you set yourself up via free agency to be able to take the BPA/BAP on the board in the first place.  Yes, the process is complex, very much involved and ongoing, but the overall philosophy is not rocket science. You set yourself up in order not to be pigeonholed into taking a lower graded player at the expense of a higher graded one. This is why Morgan, Gantt and countless of others say the same thing. This is why it's just nonsensical to set yourself in a position where you don't have to, but then act like you have to come hell or high water: "Oh, we have to draft [whatever position], and we can't draft [this position]."  I'm good with whatever they do, until proven otherwise, but even then, you have to be mature enough to know that drafting is an imperfect exercise, filled with hits and misses. And, you generally don't know if you've hit, and especially missed, right away. Moreover, like I've said before, sometimes two players--different positions or not--can both be hits on their respective teams, so in that sense, it's not purely about a right or wrong pick as much as it's about putting puzzle pieces together at the time the best way that you know how.  At the end of the day, people are going to believe what they want to believe, but one thing that's true is that what the Panthers do regarding the draft is dependent upon what others do, and what others do can and does change things. That being the case, it's just another reason why you can't go in with tunnel vision. The thought of doing that is preposterous.
