Hardy says he'll take a hometown discount from Panthers

Here's the thing with team negotiations if the team is good players are more willing to take a pay cut if they think a Super bowl is down the Road, great example of this is the Patriots, but if its a bad team you have to pay more, example of this is Charles Johnson Contract we had to over pay to keep him.

With so many areas of need on the roster and the team already cash strapped this coming offseason, I can't see Hardy getting a mega deal.  He might get the franchise tag depending on how well the Panthers do in the playoffs.  If Gettleman and the staff feel they are ready to make a Superbowl run next year, keep him around at least one more season with the tag.  If not, let him go and bolster the O-Line.

As awesome as Hardy is, I'd rather them sign a few good vet O-Linemen with the same amount of cap space to protect Cam.  No matter who is rushing the passer, the Panthers are going NO WHERE unless Cam stays healthy.  And as fun as Cam's Houdini escape acts are to watch, I hold my breath every time and hope no one slams into his knee.

All in all I think Hardy walks unless he gets the franchise tag.

Wouldn't be surprised if he is traded away on Draft day for something if all else fails. Gettleman doesn't look like the kind of person to not have some type of contingency plan. As of right now, I fully trust Gettleman and what he may or may not do in the Hardy situation.

That would require a sign and trade scenario. He won't be a panther on draft day if he's not signed in some shape or form.
