Dorsey's dropping the ball as QB Coach.

Not to wash Cam's hands completely clean, and maybe I'm ignorant on the job description, but isn't throwing mechanics training basic QB coaching?

I know Dorsey's new to the gig, but imagine you're him. You have a talented quarterback and the one major flaw in his game is he overthrows receivers or keeps the ball too high often. He actually play his best when he's forced to call plays himself at the end of the game and is short on time. What exactly are you doing as QB coach if Throwing Motion 101 stuff continues to be a chronic issue for your quarterback?

Cam has been a lot better accuracy wise this year, other than a few games.

His accuracy on short and intermediate passes has improved, but he has definitely had a poor year throwing downfield. If he gets that back to where he was his first two years, he'll be lethal.

I worry that the big Superbowl ring he'll have on his hand after the season will negatively impact his throwing mechanics though.  :D

Perhaps consider the personnel around him and the change in offensive philosophy. Cam's strength coming out of college was his deep ball accuracy... you don't just lose that. I believe it's the shift in philosophy.

Look, you're not going to turn Newton into a Brady / Brees / Manning type passer. That's just not who he is.

Your best prototype here is Brett Favre, and from what I've seen, that's the model they're following.

Favre has a ring, and so do others like him. Newton could get there too.

This season is his best completion pct, best td to int ratio, best passer rating and most tds.

Cam's mechanics when not pressured have been pretty consistently good until just recently. I suspect his toe/ankle are still tender and he can't push off on throws the way he would like to.

As to Dorsey, it looks to me like he's doing a great job and has excellent rapport with Cam.

Aside: A few fans seem to have trouble handling success. I see almost as many negative threads after wins as after losses. What's up with that?

We also dont have a deep threat WR that can just catch any ball thrown up in the air

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
