Did we just lose Greg Hardy discount...

Nah, Hardy is a talent that could plug and play on any line in the league due to his work ethic.

He could definitely make an impact anywhere, but the talent on our front 7 definitely opens up a lot of opportunity for him.  It's tough to focus on Hardy when you also have to worry about the likes of CJ, Star, Keek, and TD.

Honestly I think him making the pro bowl will make him want to stay in Carolina even more. He's playing the best football of his career in Carolina with this defense and this personnel and he knows that. He won't be as relevant anywhere else other than the with the Panthers. I would hate to see him be the type of player that goes to like the Raiders and never becomes relevant again.

Greg Hardy is a good player.  Saying he would only be relevant with the Panthers is disrespectful.

What if he goes to a team like Arizona or Seattle or big market like Dallas or New York?   Do you think he wouldn't be relevant?

I wish he could have been signed early but it's done.  He has leverage .. He is 25 years old.. back to back double digit sacks..versatile and no real history of injury.  I figure we have to franchise and hope a decent deal can be worked out.  If not then the show moves on.  Can't hate if the man want to make the most he can.  He possibly has 2 big contracts in him.  5 year and another 5 year at 30.  You have to make sure you make as much as you can in that 8-15 year window.

That being said I really, really really hope we can sign him. If we can get that 8.5-9.5 mill a year range it would be awesome.

Greg Hardy is gone baby gone. He will want too much and we wont pay up. The beauty of having the no 1defense is it means you have cushion to lose a player like Hardy and still be a top 8 D in the league. Business is business, let him walk, use the money for O line. Wes Horton and Addison arent world beaters but plug them in Hardy's place and we are still a top 7 unit.

Exactly. Gettleman has made it clear he wants to build this team starting with the trenches. Resigning his best d-lineman will be his top priority this offseason, trust in that

That will be the dumbest priority list Gettleman could make. We have more glaring issues.

CB, OL, and WR. DL is somewhere on the bottom.

I love Hardy but i don't want to overpay for him. It will suck to get nothing in return for him. I know he is young but I still think CJ is the better DE. Hardy benefits so much from having CJ on the other side of him. Notice how Hardy's two worst games of the season were when CJ was out.

Are you only going by sacks, because that isn't really a fair comparison?  CJ is back but I don't think he's really back, so Hardy has been carrying that line since he got hurt.  Hardy is also able to play DT when needed for extra pass rush.  He's valuable and we should try to keep him if possible.

Based on stats and advanced stats, Hardy is in line for a very big payday. Were talking CJ type of money or close to it, Hardy is going to get 10+ million a season or the franchise tag from the Panthers. Back to back seasons in the top 5 of NFL DE's in Pressure stats = he's getting paid.

    • Unfortunately business is business especially when there are large sums of money on the table. Goes the same for player and ownership. Does not make it right either way.  Why would he not want to play for the niners? Closer to home with a team that has a chance of delivering a SB trophy.
    • I don’t know if it’s him bad mouthing his former situation in public or my pettiness but either way I’m not a fan. Dude was on playoff teams getting paid millions to entertain. I’m not better that because and I am better than that. You don’t bad mouth your former employer in public. Esp after getting over paid and two, poor little Russian baby didn’t get the playing spot he wanted. Rod had him exactly where is was supposed to be.  He had a mean lip check and did defend our players. Specifically the devils game around Christmas where is our Haula on his ass. Cool. Thank you. But don’t talk poo about us. Because it make you look like Haula.    “need to get as far away as possible”. fug off. Didn’t see Burnsy bad mouthing and his play dropped off too.    sorry, but Orlov doesn’t get a pass from me. See you twice a year…
    • I don't really care about your post at all. I just saw the direction of the discussion and this snippet from an article I read earlier in the day was a good spot to put non-Panthers info. I mostly don't care about the players personal lives. That's off the field/personal poo. Not really any of my business.  I also don't know him personally so what would be the point of congratulating him outside basically attempting to draw attention to myself like so many in the social media/internet realm.
