Greg Hardy 15 Sacks

Pay the man.  I don't care how we get it done, but we have to.   And he WANTS to be here.  Yeah, he wants to get paid, but this isn't a JP case where the guy is dying to get out of Charlotte.  I think we can lock hardy up long term for a relatively reasonable rate.

I read on: http://www.spotrac.com/premium/research/nfl/contract-forecast-greg-hardy-370/

Which says we aren't in terrible cap shape for a contract for Hardy. Of we could keep the band together for a few more years...

I know it's easy to sit here now and say we shoulda have locked Hardy up early, but DG's plan all along was to have a dominant DL.

He double dipped in the draft, brought in solid rotation guys.

DG must have really not been sold on Hardy at all before the season. Because with all the other pieces, Hardy was going to have his opportunities. He's made the most of them the last few weeks and really has bit us in the ass.

This guy has all the talent in the world and when his head is in it he can be as good as he wants. 5 weeks ago I would have been ok letting him walk. But after the NO game and yesterday, I don't know of we can afford to let him walk.

If we locked him up before the season started and way underpaid him we would be in a situation like with Chris Johnson who was disgruntled in Tennessee. We need to pay Hardy what is the going rate for a player of his skill level. It is best for all parties to be fair. Otherwise we need to let him go and find his replacement. I am buoyed by the fact that the Giants rarely let their defensive pass rushers hit the market until their production has eroded. I imagine we will match any offers. We may let him test free agency whereas Hurney would overlay to lock them up. Hardy has to be one of the premier free agents at the DE spot. He will get a 5 year 50 million deal and be worth every penny.

OK I'll go on record saying I want us to keep Hardy. He is a beast However I understand we might not be able to afford him. So with that being said would anyone be OK with possibly tagging then trading him to a team like the raiders for their first round pick and then taking someone like Clowney to replace him? Also I don't follow college so using Clowney as an example if someone is better take him instead.

    • When we have everyone playing like they should, we can win the Cup. That has been the biggest problem when we get to the playoffs, but this year seems to be fixed mostly.
    • Here we go Bryce Stan’s you should love this. Hell it may be one of you.  It has every cliche excuse and then some.  Unintentionally hilarious my limit was reached when he said Bryce had it hard because four play callers.
    • Luke goes in to the specifics of what he looked to accomplish in joint practices.  Basically they may work with someone on the opposing team to stress something they feel is a weakness in their own game in a different way that can be done with someone they are familiar with. That they can have predetermined stresses but since neither wants to get injured and it has absolutely no bearing on anything there is not the level of concern that would be in a preseason game.  He would also even chat with opposing OC.   It seems like an interesting nuance among the vets and savy pros.
