Hardy says he wouldn't mind franchise tag

It shows that he wants to be here in Carolina. In his heart, he wants to be a Panther. This post made me pretty happy.

Agree with Swan, it tells me he doesn't want to go anywhere else, which is consistent with his "hometown discount" comment.

Any other player saying this, and I would tend to agree.  This is the Kraken, though.  Hogwarts, cereal, there is no telling what is going to come out of the man's mouth, and what does, there's no telling what it actually means.

This is definitely encouraging.  Although that would obviously not be ideal consider our current cap situation, it is nice to see that he would be okay with it.  Most players, at least from what I have heard, do not like it.

For those much more knowledgeable about how the cap works than I, how would this effect our cap space if we were to have to go this route?

for some reason this confuses people.  Hardy is much more predictable than a few of you seem to understand.

However, those numbers aren't exactly stellar by NFL quarterbacking standards. Even though the Panthers backdoored their way into the postseason in 2025 as NFC South champions with an 8-9 record, Young's performance was up-and-down.
