Have now read 3 legit mocks with Falcs moving up for Clowney

Rams at second have pass rushers.   They could get the player they really want anyway in the Falcons spot, one of the elite OT's.

While I'm a little more wary of the red flags around Clowney, I certainly admit he could be an elite rusher at the next level.

and we just lost Jordan.

the flip side is, that the Falcons would once again lose picks and depth to make this move, either a 2nd or 3rd this year, and maybe a little more.

While Julio is very good, there is a reason the Falcons flopped last year.  Gonna be interesting.

This is a swap that could really happen

Cause a 4-12 team is one player away.

Yeah I took as much joy in watching the Falcons suck last year as every other Panther fan, but let's not delude ourselves.  The Falcons aren't that far away from being a good team.  I really don't want my favorite college player going to a division rival cause then I'll have to hate Clowney too regardless if he was Gamecock.

I don't think it matters if they want to trade up.  Houston is going to take Clowney....their track records show it.  I wouldn't be surprised if they picked Clowney and then traded back up into the first to land Bortles.  Bortles reminds me of Tannehill and could still be available later in the first.  If he's not there they might go with Jimmy Garoppolo in the second.  Either way.....they would be the dumbest franchise ever if they went with Manziel first overall.

Idk if they are one away from SB but Julio was injured all last year. Adding him back and putting Clowney on the edge is definitely an elite upgrade. We better shore up those OT spots with Gallette, Clowney, and Lovie's Tampa-2.

    • First, am I wrong? I looked back over all his posts here and I didn't see anything positive other than Shough. Second, pretty sure if you had read the post I was responding to, you would have seen CRA made poo personal as well . You just choose to address me instead of him. Not sure why?????
    • I wanted XL but I felt he should have been a 2nd rounder but I understand the logic trading up just to get the option. A safety net for your gamble.    Certainly disappointed with his receivers development but i like his down field blocking and I imagine that's what's keeping him on the field.
    • Pretty sure it is a given Young lacks typical QB size and strength and he is here simply because his other attributes more than make up for it. My point is not to indicate anyone "settled" for him but rather to remind people that there have been plenty of big, strong QB's that have not lived up to expectations. Jamis Winston, Anthony Richardson, Trey Lance, JaMarcus Russel are a few examples. They all have the physical attributes coveted by teams and yet none have had sustained success in the NFL. And yes, there are QBs that do have both but there aren't many and some of the ones still playing were failures with their early teams. Saying Young is a bust simply based upon his size (and I do think it is as simple as that for a few guys around here) is unfair to both him and the team.
