Every year each club is allowed to bring in 30 players for updated medicals and interviews. The other clubs in the league know which players are visiting each team.

What I used to do when scheduling visits was to change whom I brought in every year so there was never a pattern as to which player was going to visit. One year, we brought in players whom we were thinking of targeting in the first three rounds. The next year I brought in some people we had already eliminated and players we wanted to "recruit" for post-draft free agency. The following year I brought in a combination of the two.

By doing this there is no way the media or other teams could gauge how we were approaching a given draft.

You're right, it is all just a smokescreen.That's why it's important to know your team and have a plan.  If you are so concerned about what the other guy is doing you won't be in the league long.  Glad we have GMan!

You mean, coaches and GMs don't play their hands open and honestly?  Color me shocked!!!

 

We as passionate football fans are dying for any news.  Therefore we'll jump on any tidbit, then jump to a conclusion, and congratulate ourselves for being smarter than football guys.  I love it.  Its fun for us!

 

But for the real football guys, like scouts, coaches and GMs, this is their job.  So they are going to pull things that would make Tyrion Lannister smile.  It's all about winning and keeping their jobs.

The list of guys the Panthers brought in last year is interesting. All those WR's we brought in and we went DT with our first two picks.

 

Now nobody can honestly say they thought Star would be there, even after the combine some still thought he could go #1 but Short and Kugbila were on the list.

      lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

      Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
