Thoughts on melvin white

He's alright and has the mesurables.

Our front seven makes those kinda players look decent. I'd like to see a what a decent corner would look like behind them.

I remember watching a preseason game last summer where he hit and tackled on a play and i was like wow i hope ron saw that.  he stood out then and stood up under the pressure of being a rookie.  nothing but praise

Putting the title thing to the side. He wears my favorite number so that's a plus for me and I think he did a good job against teams #2s this year.

This play shows how good this kid could be. Defense is in man coverage, he goes with Nicks down field, turns his head and reads Manning, peels off of Nicks to come back and pick off the pass to Cruz who has Munnerlyn beat by two steps. It wasn't even his play to make and he makes a huge play anyway. Brilliant play for any player to make, much less an undrafted rookie. Kid has major upside. When the game slows down for him he can be a very good starting corner.

I'm still very much on the Melvin White bandwagon for obvious reasons.  I think he will be a good #2 for us this year and help provide some needed depth at a position we are light on.

Good coverage skills along with decent speed and solid size. I really liked his ability to contribute to run defense and his physical mentality on press and making tackles. I think he can continue to be our #1 or 2 corner going forward. He also showed the ability to create turnovers.

Decent starter now with pretty good potential. For an undrafted guy, he exceeded expectations and will be solid for us this year.

If we had a second or third round player that played as well as Melvin last year you all would be singing his praises as the next shutdown corner.

He is not there yet, but take the pressure off the coaches to think they need 2 guys, you know like OT or WR.

 

Defensive scheme helps him obviously, but it did the same for Mitchell

his awareness on that play was truly impressive.  the pick six against the falcons was no fluke either-i remember him giving a radio interview during the bye week before the playoffs and he was talking about how the entire defense knew exactly where that pass was going based on what they had seen in film study.

I completely agree with you. Not all great nfl players come from well known schools and get drafted high. I like to think this shows how good our scouting, training and coaching are when we can take an unknown guy and he do this.
