I just want everyone to remember one thing from 2013...

Make that Walmart or K-Mart. Costco has good stuff.

If the OL can be improved anywhere near as much as the DL was last season, it won't take genius play calling to move the ball.

If this year does nothing else. It allows us to pretty much set where our holes really lie. Next year we may just have the money to address couple, not many, but a couple 2-3 holes. If some of the kids pan out, our true holes may be fewer and farther between than we imagine them to be.

But yeah, if we can get the Oline together. We may not be a bad as some folks are fearing we are going to be.

Why do you all still believe we need stud wide receivers? As Rivera said, we basically need to replace 10 catches a game. Smith and Lafell both dropped many passes last season and Ginn had a few golden opportunities. We are looking for guys that can hang on to the ball, not a Dez Bryant, Calvin Johnson, or AJ Green. The majority of our value will go to the defensive side of the ball as our game management offense can be run by so so players( see: Tampa during Brad Johnson era.)

With all due respect to Riverea who likely knows more then I'll ever know about football but that is a Kool Aid statement if I have ever heard one.  Hindsight will be 20/20 but you do just replace catches.  The Bills learned this with Peerless Price.  He left and we had 3 guys snag down maybe 8 a game to make up for it.  Those 8 just weren't the same.  A good WR is just different.

Of course, hindsight is going to be a pain in the ass when LaFell goes for career yardage, 1,000+ yards, 20 TD's, and all that thanks to Marcia Brady.

I'm going to go run and duck under a table now.  I don't think that the above will go over well.

I trust him as well, but remember this. Our offense is decimated. Last year,

our D had 2 very good veteran DE's, and a decent Dwan to help the 2 rookies,

not to mention freaking DPOY Luke and a fabulous vet in Davis.

We're not heading into this year with that on offense. We have Cam, Kalil, Tolbert and Greg.

all other running backs are questionable. All wr's are questionable. All guards and tackles

are questionable or worse.

If our O improves enough to win the division again, Getty deserves a big fat raise.

Again, he's building for the long term, but enjoy the ride. Something tells me he'll make it

work fairly well next year.

Not to mention an above average DC and defensive mastermind as HC vs....Shula.

Edit what zod said

I just don't see us running an offensive scheme that relies on big play wide receivers is all. Do your job and catch the ball. YAC is only important when you catch the ball, something when had trouble with at times last season.

I wouldn't say the defense was better off.

When 2012 ended we had a D-Line that was OK but we were getting run all over by many teams.  Our back end wasn't much to be overly excited about either.  Davis and Kuechly were solid.

In 2014  We have 3 Pro Bowlers in Cam, Kaili and Tolbert.  A Pro Bowl Caliber TE an up and coming G in Silatolu.  To good running backs that can get the job done with a solid line.

Shore up the tackle positions.

I think with the WR on the staff and who we will hopefully draft will create a very competitive situation and the cream will rise to the top.

Gettleman has an outstanding eye for talent.   I believe he will fix the offense like he did with the Defense last year.

The biggest issue I think this team will face going into 2014 is that Cam Newton will have to build confidence and trust with his WR Corp over a period of 6 weeks.

Last year of shopping at Costco. From here on out, we shop at the mall.

Gettin' it together with the Gman.

But cereally, get me a starting LT, and I don't care what you kids do to the Offense. Double dip at WR, hellz, triple dip the mfer. WR and CB the whole draft, I don't care. Just get me my starting LT.

I agree if we can fix the OL which means getting a LT that is not named bell and a RT not named Bell

    • We need a Sam Off Ball Backer to pair with Lloyd. Lloyd is a strong Interior Will especially in Pass Coverage- but that is also Trevin Wallace’s archetype. Need a Rozeboom style run stopper. Rodriguez and Allen fit that
    • There aren’t that many ways to screw Day 2 up.  That’d be them making an obvious reach, or selecting at one of the few positions that we are pretty solid at. Because as excited as we are for the growth and improvement this team is showing, it’s still not an overly talented or deep roster. Honestly, there aren’t really many positions I’d feel bad about. Feelings about Bryce aside (because we are not going to select a QB), it’s really RB (bad positional value) and that’s it. I guess OT too since we grabbed Freeling in Round 1.    While not as high on my wish list as other spots, you can justify WR or TE.     Interior offensive lineman who would likely take over an interior spot either this year (at center) or guard (next for cap casualty of Hunt or Lewis)? Fine by me.   Dlineman? Yes, that’s a highly rotational position and we have zero quality depth.    ILB? Yep, could stand for an upgrade over Wallace.    EDGE? Absolutely wouldn’t hate another option to spell Phillips, Scourton, and Princely.    FS?  Would love to add better coverage skill set to the backend of the defense. Moehrig and Ransom are great in run support but not as good deep. Adding a more traditional FS would allow us to mix and match/run some 3 safety sub packages and or a big nickel type look with a SS down near the line for better run support in possible pass downs.    CB? Could stand to get better at nickel.
    • Sounds like Veesaar is entering the draft. He could always test the waters and pull out and return but without him our big men look like a serious liability. Better do something in the portal. If they don't do something about this portal madness my days as a college sports fan are probably numbered. This bullshit of having a nearly entirely new team every season is gonna get old fast.
