it's going to be a crowded TE group...a crowded receiving corps that he will be part of. i'm not sure how much breaking out is going to happen. we're probably going to have 1 receiver with 1k yards, another couple with over 750 yards, and then the rest will be lucky to get over 500 and will probably be around 350 at best. i just don't see enough targets coming for him to get a whole lot. maybe 1-2 a game. not because he isn't good enough, there's only going to be so many balls thrown to a lot of different people.

Canales hasn't proven to use the TE like that. Look for him to get around 400 yards and 3 tds

I really love Sanders potential and thus never understood why so many were wanting us to take a TE in the 1st. But if he approaches 700 yards this year, it means our WR room had tons of injuries or seriously flopped. As I've said before, this year is about Bryce proving he can be the guy, but all our offensive weapons will have slightly lower stats because he's going to spread the ball around and they'll all eat into each other's potential. It's next year when Thielen leaves and we don't replace him with a new player, but T-Mac, XL, Coker, and Sanders all absorb his targets that they all start putting up the stats they are capable of.

I think both things can be true. I think he is capable of playing at a high level, I also think without any elite physical traits, and his height, he has a much smaller margin of error. Both things can be true. All physical traits and his brain are all tools. The more tools you have in your bag the more chances you have to get the job done, but that doesn't mean you cant with minimal tools.

Exactly this. He controls his own future and it's basically decided this coming season. As the #1 overall pick in his third season at qb, if we are picking in the top 5 or 6 next draft in a very qb heavy draft, he made his own bed.

Yea I got you I don't respect cheating regardless myself but to get entangled in some nonsense you may have no control over depending on who the spouse is. I think the highlighted portion of your post is a reasonable expectation. The above stat would average out to just over 1 TD pass per game and twice as many TD's as INT's. This team is built to run the football, so I'm not expecting Bryce to light up the stat sheet each week. If can complete 60% of his passes, make 2-3 big time passing plays a week, reach the 3,400-3,500 yard mark, and finish the season with your stat line, then we should be competitive week in and week out.

Because they signed him to an appropriate contract. His deal is in the range of a #3 TE who is probably expected to make the roster but if he doesn't, oh well. It's not gonna hurt us much at all to cut bait on him. That's who Ian Thomas is as an NFL player. A guy who should be bouncing around the league trying to make it as a bottom of the roster type of player. Not a guy that you sign to a mid-level starter type of contract like the Panthers did.

is it an excuse that the ice melted because it sat on the counter? If we dont improve on the D (and things are looking up there) then it wont matter. We will still be losing more games than we are winning and Bryce isnt enough to lift the team above that

I hope so. I liked him coming into the draft but then he hit the field and looked utterly lost and just like he flat out didn't belong and it was like "UH OH. That's not good." But he really showed improvement through the mid-portion of the season before that nasty spill seemed like it just kinda derailed the rest of his season.

I was 275 when I had mine surgically repaired at age 35. I was back to work in 4 days and full strength in 2 months. I assume they are being ultra cautious with arguably our best player.

Yeah, the other quote was a little odd but at the end of the day he's a football player not a public speaker. He's a veteran player who is one of the best on the league at his position and there's been no coaching or defensive scheme change so yeah, it's understandable why his goal is simply about being out there on opening day. For a guy like him OTAs and training camp aren't the goal. It's about the games that count.

He apparently put on weight to play at A&M and lost a step because he was asked to play differently. He's trimmed down and allegedly gained that step back. He had significant production "lighter" and "heavier" but he fits our defense better in the "lighter" version. I think it is a solid pick and time will tell.
