A behind-the-scenes look at how the Panthers made deals — and didn't make deals — to get to Tetairoa McMillan and an eight-man class which filled a number of needs for a growing team.

I’m saying I would hope they’d at least have talks with his agent to know if they’re in the same ballpark for an extension before making the trade. It’s all a risk but especially they think they can resign him a 4th or 5th rder doesn’t seem like that much to risk when the upside is a pro bowl player with years of good football left at a position/positions(FS possibly later) of need

"Coker arguable outplayed XL last year"..........There is NO ARGUMANT Jalen Coker absolutely outplayed and outproduced XL. Big year coming up for XL definitely going to have to make a large leap this year to not get talked about as a bust. It is always nice though seeing the shambles other teams could possibly be in considering we have been the Browns of the South for way to fuggin long! -
Tulsky screwed the pooch with Rantenen by signing him without a long term contract- the fact Mikko apparently didn’t want one should have been a dead giveaway he didn’t want to be here. Just don’t make that mistake again.

XL goes to his first hockey game and loves it. Hilarious video

I think he's funny and he seems like a decent dude, but I would feel a lot better about the rest of your statement if he hadn't played 5 years in college. - Today

Hornets Screwed in NBA Draft Lottey...Again
PNW_PantherMan replied to chknwing's topic in Charlotte Hornets
I don't think you can really compare the NHL to the NBA. Sure they both have a lottery, but every pick outside the 1st round in the NBA is like a 5th round pick in the NFL. The talent evaluation in basketball has a lot less uncertainty and players are expected to be able to contribute at 18 years old. There's no development system for your 7th round pick to come up in. You basically get what you draft in the 1st round. The NHL is a lot closer to baseball in my opinion. Yeah you might have a 1st overall pick that can play right away. But basically everyone is going through a minor league development system until they're ready to contribute at the highest level. In the NBA your talent pipeline is basically Adam Silver and his lotto balls and that's it. It's true that the Hornets front office has been ass. But I think the NBA is the most tilted league against smaller markets. I don't know how you're supposed to be successful without having the lottery gods bestow it upon your franchise. -

RUMOR: Panthers possibly making an addition in the secondary
shaq replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think you might need to check his contract again. We would have his contract rights for the next three seasons with him playing at ages (31-33). Also just to be clear this would be his 4th team not his 5th, (Jaguars-Rams-Dolphins). Ima be honest man I think you gotta research this information a bit more. “Why would he want to come here initially” I mean from a literal sense it’s not his choice, whoever the Dolphins deal him to is up to the best offer available. Secondly, I think having coaching familiarity with Evero would be something that works on both sides. -

Or a restructure. Nobody is paying him $25M a year at this point I would think the team would view this a one-year deal with the option of maybe negotiating something further. There's still a significant chance Evero is gone after this season also which could lead to more inevitable changes. So the ultimate question to me is does the team think there is enough upside for this season to trade for him. I say yes, but I completely understand the argument against it as well. -
Yea let's just get to top 16 and go from there
-
He will be 32 oct of next year. And the choice as of now is play him at this current contract for this season, see how he plays and then decide to opt out, restructure or keep playing on the existing deal. I see only 1 of those options viable, opt out after 2025 no matter how he plays and then try and resign him. But by all accounts he is a headcase currently eye balling his 5th team. Why would he want to come here initially and why would he resign here if we opted out of his deal?

not sure if anyone saw this, but teams are asking about Kyle Pitts. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/kyle-pitts-landing-spots-cowboys-giants-among-potential-2025-fits-with-falcons-reportedly-open-to-trading-te/ also, the falcons winning season drought has been as long as ours. -
both had a common theme though (loudly discussed here going into both seasons), unusually light work going into both seasons given what he was..... again, Mahomes, Allen, etc were getting more preseason reps than Young. I hope Canales plays him a lot in this preseason. 3 good NFL games vs the rest of his resume shouldn't put him in the light work tier he has been going into prior seasons with

Rookie season? He had zero MFL experience and bad coaching Season 2? He took the off-season off to hang w/ family and friends and play video games and not think football. Plus, getting used to a New coach But Dave knew what he was doing. Sat Bryce down, worked on fundamentals (footwork, timing), designed plays that worked with Bryces style and abilities. Was a different Bryce coming off the bench. Everybody saw the improvements This past off-season? Bryce was working with TMac before the draft even happened. More football-focused. Head is in the game it seems I dont think Bryce will be as slow as starter this coming season as qe saw in yr 1 and 2.

RUMOR: Panthers possibly making an addition in the secondary

First off you don’t “redo deals” if you extend someone you can spread out their cap hit, which is something Morgan and company has don’t repeatedly; along with every other 31 front offices. Also I’m getting very confused why you continually refer to him as a 32 year old corner and reference him as a one year rental. By your logic he would play next season at 31, then atleast one more season at 32. So by your own logic he is at minimum a two year starting corner. Listen if reports came out the Dolphins were trying to get first or second round pick I would be completely against it. But by all accounts the Dolphins are in a vulnerable cap situation and need to offload some players to stay under the cap and it’s rumored the asking price for Jalen is only around a 3rd. Research suggests the average third round pick career length is 3 years, and even basing it off your own logic we could have a top 15 corner for a minimum of two seasons. You do that deal all damn day man, every move every aspect of roster construction is a risk but this is a pretty reasonable risk to take man.
