I'm curious as to how much of that "Byron can play left tackle" was Gman/Rivera trying to pick up an extra 2nd rounder.

Afterall as Byron would tell you, those 4 1/2 sacks Mario Williams had last year werent even all his fault.

Bell.  We don't have a great track record with 2nd rounders.  I heard something like 2/3 of 2nd rounders are busts.  For an UDFA, Bell has been outstanding.

I think that Bell is surly not great but the fact we had a turnstile at right guard really exaggerated the problem.  There was literally no chemistry.  I think if he can land at one spot and we give him a solid guard beside him, he could be fairly decent.  I hope Amini comes back strong as he and Bell would be a good blocking combination especially in the run game.

I get the Hardy tag. I get the Smith cut. What I don't get is this tender. Did they REALLY think they would possibly lose Bell if they didn't give him a second round tender?

Seems the better option would have been to give the lowest tender. Yeah, there's no pick compensation if someone signs him, but you still get right of first refusal and it's a good bit cheaper.

And really, no one's signing him for more than the minimum anyway.

I'm not saying Bell is our future or even a great tackle, but one play without knowing the blocking scheme for that play doesn't prove anything
