Do you have a second team to root for?

I don't really root for, but kinda wish luck to (when not playing the Panthers) the Buffalo Bills. Because I'm from NY, and they are the only team that plays in the state of NY.

Before the Panthers were around, I didn't root for anyone. Steelers, Redskins, Dallas, Giants, Bills, Bears and Pats fans were all around me. And I got yelled at to once saying "you need to start rooting for a team so we can talk poo to you!!" So, Just so happened the Panthers came into play when that was told to me. So I went with them (to not be a front runner). Been a fan ever since and never swayed!

Same.  My whole family is from Buffalo and they are all Bills fans. I also buy Bills apparel because wearing Panthers gear during the game always makes us lose.

I also believe this is why the Bills have been poor to mediocre the past decade.

It might be weird to ask such a question, but when I talk with my local football fans friends, they claim that they have a second or even third team they root for. I think it's too ridiculous because I don't even think I have enough time to love my only Panthers but they can cheer for three teams at the same time...

So how about the great huddle?

If I'm a life long fan of team x, and move to a city that has team y, and I'd like to support my local team, according to you I'd have to quit pulling for the team I've always liked, or say fug the local team. If you want to love one team and hate all the rest, go right ahead, but don't ask me to join your 'ridiculous club'.

I don't have a backup team but because of my love of college football and the draft I do enjoy taking a peak at some teams that draft some of my favorite players. I'm also a sucker for the underdog so I'd like to see teams like the Bills, Jax and the Brownies rebound and push other teams I do hate like the Pats and Colts. They generally tend to be AFC teams as they create no conflict with the Panthers. I cant think of 1 other NFC team I care for in any way, once a player goes there they become the enemy. I love Jeffery and it makes me cringe every time he scores but in no way can I root for them to win, not unless it somehow benefits the Panthers.

These threads pop up about once every offseason, and the reaction is always the same; people with family/regional ties to other teams, and Panthers jingoists who berate others for having a second team.

Panthers will always be number one for me, but I'll have other teams that I root for week to week, and season to season. I pulled for the Chargers in their twilight Doug Flutie days. I liked the Raiders in the Gradkowski era, and right now, the Ravens are my solid second favorite, given they are geographically close to me, and currently have my all time favorite player on their roster.

    • He was so much fun to watch as a player but is a prototypical example of the old "never meet your heroes" adage. Great player, not a great guy.
    • Look.... if us BY "haters" give credit about his GWDs...... Will the BY stans also have honest discussion about the 55minutes before the last 5 in which BY has put up 9/20 for 78 yards 0 TDs???
    • The way they are handling now is how they should have handled it from the start instead of that you get a series, you a get a series. Let Chuba spell until he had some of his step back.  We definitely could have put a better showing against Buffalo and their weak run defense had we employed the same game plan we did against Green Bay. Saints were determined to stop the run and make Bryce beat them, Atlanta had similar plan and the coaches and Bryce were able to respond.  Rico although didnt have the best rushing game was vital in the passing game and his catch and run help get us into the redzone there at the end of regulation probably should have been a touchdown that out of bounds was a judgement call it wasn't conclusive and thus should have went with the original call on the field.  Roco brings that dawg to the offense that it shorely lacked up until Miami game. Interesting it was his call that help seal the win for us, glad the coaches were listening. Hope they can get a deal done and run it back next year.
