Thomas Davis more than likely will retire a Panther

Strong words from a strong man:

“If I’m going to play football and represent an organization, it’s going to be with the team that stuck beside me and never gave up on me,” Davis, 31, said, staring straight into an Observer reporter’s eyes. “My mindset right now is, I’m going to play for the Carolina Panthers or I’m done playing football.”

Jonathan Jones' article's theme is pretty much about trust and respect. Obviously fate has allowed the relationship between Davis and the Panthers to pretty much evolve into the epitome of loyalty between an NFL player and team.

And Davis has the same respect for the roots that he has built in Charlotte, and the life that he is living.

Davis will play for no one else. He has a comfortable life with his wife, Kelly, and their children. He also hosts annual events with his charity, the Thomas Davis Defending Dreams Foundation.

“My kids are growing up and I want to be at home with them,” Davis said. “This is the perfect situation for me now. We made this decision that Charlotte is our home and this is where we’re going to be.”

Rivera seems to be in the same mold.

“You try to build is loyalty and trust, and along the way you develop a relationship,” Rivera said. “You have to be honest and you have to stay with it. For the commitment T.D. has made to this team, I didn’t think it’d be right to cast him aside.

It's really a relationship to behold in this day and time.

A lot of other players would not feel that way and I totally respect that as it is a business and people need to do what they need to do. Hell, if I were in the same situation I probably would not feel that way.  The fact that TD has that conviction speaks very strongly to his internal core values but it also speaks highly of the organization and his relationship with the FO in particular JR and RR.  I am proud to be a fan of the Carolina Panthers and I am proud that we have a player, a man and a human being like Thomas Davis playing for the team.

He is a great football player but I think he is 10X better person than a football player.  Great stuff

It gives me chills to think about what football can do for people and everyone around them. I think TD was criminally underrated last year and deserves nothing but love from our fan base. Not many people have the courage or passion that he does--coming back from three ACL surgeries and a somewhat rare heart condition. Thomas Davis is an inspirational guy that should (IMO) be thought of one of the greatest Panthers for his dedication and loyalty to Carolina.

He already is one of the greatest in our short history.

He's the only player that I've heard fans unanimously say should have a statue at boa

    • Been here since middle school right when it started around 2003 after the charlotte.com one. Living outside of Carolina it was tough to find good Panthers content, news or analysis. And no one to talk to about it. This place gave me a lot though I don’t often post. In the later days, I particularly Loved PhillyB’s write ups. They were fire. Too bad I go let it go. I appreciate the hell out of @MHS831 @TheSpecialJuan @Jackie Lee and others who have been posting great content and keeping this place worth coming back to. Particularly during the offseason. Appreciate y’all!
    • Nice explanation, but I was just messing with you. Thought that would be obvious. I dont have the energy to keep on trolling. Last season I compared our situation with Bryce as a potential Alex Smith, but what we should be looking for is our version of Mahomes. Some people will read that as one sentence, to me that single sentence is equivalent to a half A4 explanationf of the teams pathway forward.
    • I dont know how much of his salary would come across and how much a trade would cost but I feel Kmet would be the sort of TE Canales and Morgan would like
