This guy can play tackle, if we can structure money for him

Multiple teams are preparing to approach the San Francisco 49ers about their interest in trading for holdout guard Alex Boone, according to a league source.

Boone has held out since early in the offseason. The two sides are not close to a contract extension and Boone is believed to be prepared to stay away from the team until he gets a new deal. He has two seasons remaining on his contract that will pay him about a total of $4 million.

Boone signed a five-year deal in 2011 when he was a backup and the contract was essentially for backup money. He has developed into one of the better guards in the NFL.

Among the teams that could use a guard are the Buccaneers and Giants. Boone can also play tackle.

Trading Boone, a key part of the 49ers' offense, will likely be a last resort for the 49ers.

Just pisses me off that because of these contracts left hanging over this teams head that they are always left sucking hind teet.....two steps forward and three steps back. We can never get the puzzle piece we need.

Geesh, the Buc's were mentioned before the Panthers as a team that can use a guard.

Jut goes to show you, how the national media really has no clue about the Panthers.

Either way, if the Panthers can get him to fit into their salary cap goals, why not.

The Panthers need depth at guard, not a starter. We have two pretty good guards. Tackle may be a different story.

depend on how much more he wants to make.  He's due 2 mill this year, 1.2 mill next.  We have 5 mill in

cap room right now.  we could give him 3 mill this year, 2 mill next.  Don't know if that's enough for him though.

And I would only do this for him playing tackle, not guard.

The real question is how much would we be willing to give up if we wanted him.  I can't anything about

his ability to be tackle, but he would have to be an upgrade at tackle at anything we have on the roster.

They're right.

We have Amini Silatolu and Trai Turner.

Guard isn't our big area of concern. Tackle is.

    • 5 straight completions in the 4th quarter to get into the red zone and then score a stand up rushing TD and celly in one of the best defenses faces to bring the score within 1 possession against the super bowl champs is "stunned" to you?
    • yes, if you read what I said - that was due to his record breaking 245 yard 4th quarter performance in garbage time when the Seahawks were already celebrating. If Bryce puts up big numbers in the 4th quarter, people like you are quick to call it garbage time stats but seem to get selective when other QB's do it because it doesn't fit your narrative.  also, I'm logical enough to admit that Drake is a great QB and his performance had a lot to do with his protection, play calling, and other aspects. The game does not fall completely on the QB. Just like how the Panthers were still in the game vs Seattle until Horn's penalty changed that. It is a team sport, so many factors, players, refs, coaches are involved and it only takes one thing to change the game. the obsession with Bryce is just nauseating at this point and if you pay attention on here, it's the same 10 users quoting and pieing each other. it's super weird and everywhere else you go, opinions on Bryce are trending upwards. the way the season ended, the vibe at the stadium, the performance, should have everyone excited about this next season. Idk, maybe I just look at life and my entertainment outlets differently than others.
    • Are we sure something hasnt happened to him because that seems pretty shitty to simply abandon this place
