Fisher #1 pick, UDFA Bell playing better

Regardless of how Bell works out long term, I'm convinced that between him and Chandler there was more talent (and obviously more experience) on the team than in the draft at OT. So glad DG didn't fall for the knee jerk reaction of 'gotta draft a LT'.

Like Kouandjio.

Bryon Bell is like the IT guy of the Panthers.  He's in a catch-22.  When he has a bad game, everyone is like "OMG he's terrible" IE like when a server goes down and everyone's like "you suck why did this happen now I can't do blah blah blah" then when everything is going fine, people are like "what do you even do here, we don't need you" kinda like when Bell is play well and everyone remembers that bad game he had last year.

Wow I'm shocked at all these bell supporters, before two preseason games there was only jackofalltrades and me....... now look at the huddle now.

I'm as easily forgettable as a good play from Big Byron it seems T.T

When Bell starts playing better, people's opinion of him is going to change. This suprises you? Are you special?

Unlike people who just say players are going to be good before a snap is even taken, to get some sort of stupid 'I told you so' credit, or fade away into no where if their prediction fails, some people like to wait and see a difference before making judgement and any opinion so far is based on what we have already seen, ie. Bell's pas prefermance.

I have more respect for those changing their minds due to seeing facts rather than blind homers who hit or miss yacking about some player and how they 'feel' about them, especially the I told you so crowds, so fuging annoying.

yea i will admit that i was not a Bell fan. i trusted the FO to do what they felt was best for the team. for now, it seems that they did exactly that. i am under no impression that Bell is the answer at LT. nor do i think Chandler will stay at RT. i think after this season, we will beef up the OL. but for now, Bell and Chandler are what we have, and they are playing well enough to keep Cam Newton safe. that is all i care about.

No told you so after two half played preseason games. I just ask the huddle to look at bells whole career. First game as jeff otahs replacement, coming undrafted form a no name school..... his task block clay matthews. At the time clay was labeled as a top three OLB/DE/pass rusher, bell stone clay for a quiet day. He gave the panthers 12 games that year and became the RT starter for years to come, all while playing for the league min(he was among the highest pay in bonuses each years after). But you still had huddlers bitacin about the second round tender and focused on his bad game versus mario, whom makes many other highly ranked OTs look like mud puddles too. He's saved the panthers form otah quitting and played for peanuts while manning the RT. Did he have some terrible games? Yes, but he also bonced back and had more average & a couple great games to balance out.

    • Today, we are all Kucci... I miss our feral Russian attack goalie!
    • That was a good segment. Watched every minute of it and would highly recommend it to all fans.
    • "So much of what the Panthers are going to do next week isn't dictated by their preference, but by what happens above them. That's another benefit of not getting locked into need. For instance, if you're thinking you want a receiver, seeing five or six of them go off the board and reacting by taking the sixth or seventh off your list instead of the first (or second or third) something else isn't necessarily wise." https://www.panthers.com/news/ask-the-old-guy-back-into-the-weeds-of-the-nfl-draft-bryce-young-charlotte-hornets-mock-draft This is what some don't seem to get, I don't care how many times it is said: You're NOT going to draft an inferior person at one position, just because that position is perceived as, or is in fact, a bigger need. That would basically nullify, or at least lessen, the reason why you set yourself up via free agency to be able to take the BPA/BAP on the board in the first place.  Yes, the process is complex, very much involved and ongoing, but the overall philosophy is not rocket science. You set yourself up in order not to be pigeonholed into taking a lower graded player at the expense of a higher graded one. This is why Morgan, Gantt and countless of others say the same thing. This is why it's just nonsensical to set yourself in a position where you don't have to, but then act like you have to come hell or high water: "Oh, we have to draft [whatever position], and we can't draft [this position]."  I'm good with whatever they do, until proven otherwise, but even then, you have to be mature enough to know that drafting is an imperfect exercise, filled with hits and misses. And, you generally don't know if you've hit, and especially missed, right away. Moreover, like I've said before, sometimes two players--different positions or not--can both be hits on their respective teams, so in that sense, it's not purely about a right or wrong pick as much as it's about putting puzzle pieces together at the time the best way that you know how.  At the end of the day, people are going to believe what they want to believe, but one thing that's true is that what the Panthers do regarding the draft is dependent upon what others do, and what others do can and does change things. That being the case, it's just another reason why you can't go in with tunnel vision. The thought of doing that is preposterous.
