Let Cam Sit This Week

No reason to think we can't run the ball. Amini and Turner are both upgrades and Stewart is a HUGE upgrade over DeAngelo.

G play hopefully turns into one....can't claim it is yet.

And Stewart is a better runner in the conditions here.....but if Williams is getting lead reps then it doesn't matter.

I think there are some people with other reasons behind this "sit cam" bullshit. If he is medically cleared, nobody is going to be able to keep Cam Newton from playing. He is a competitor. Period. All fans should know this by now, and if you don't, well, why are you even here?

Football knowledge is not a requisite for being a fan. You've been around here long enough to know that knee jerk reactions out-weigh knowledge.

So, worst case scenario is, Cam plays and breaks his ribs even more by taking a shot. He misses time.

How hard would the same people gnashing their teeth at the idea of sitting him for a week cry out and ask why Rivera played him?

Yeah, because "Worst case scenarios" are how things really work. Best case, Cam plays in some pain and does his thing. Ribs hurt, but there is no given that they will get worse.

This place leads the league in fret and worry. QBs play with rib injuries all the damm time.

Again, I never said he shouldn't play. Read my post. I pointed out the absolute worst case scenario. I expect him to play. But, if he does, and gets hurt more, I want to point out that the same people calling everyone on this board "stupid" or being a douche like Red, would immediately turn on Rivera and scream "why did he play!!?!??!?"

we are on the same page, and the fact he basically pulled himself out of practice yesterday during stretching should put everyone else on that page as well.  but alas, everyone wants instant gratification.  i said that because we have come to know Cam, and he will play.

That's a lil too confident lol. Its not even 99% on any given sunday with your starter

Did Cam not practice today?

according to media there for the first 20 minutes of pracyice (all their allowed) cam was there in pads wearing a newer more streamined flac jacket, but didn't throw any passes, though voth said he heard cam told to get loose as media was leaving so there's that. apparently all he had done was handed off to RBs. from people there yesterday and today cam did seem pretty loose and pain free, dancing around and waving his arms freely. sounds good for him to start, even with the secrecy about him throwing. it's still in wait-and-see mode as far as most are concerned. DA is apparently preparing as if he'll be playing, but then he does that all the time anyway.

I don't expect for us to be a top rushing team (not including Cam) but I'm optimistic that we have the ability to be.

i wonder at what week we will finally start Stewart instead of D.  i think we will be a better running team then, save D for the second half to be more of a homerun thread.

I would sure as hell hope we start with Stew week 1 since he's clearly the better back at this stage in their careers. I love DeAngelo, but he can't even hold Stew's jockstrap at this point. I expect them to split with Tolbert being thrown into the mix... Worst way to approach it IMO. Let one guy get his rhythm and groove and give him 30 carries. And that guy should be Stew.

Cam didnt throw at all today during practice. In my book hes going to be a no go. Even if he plays it will be Cam that hasnt practiced full with a brand new WR corps, a bad ankle and cracked rib. DA and KB has looked equally as good together in pre season as Cam and KB. If you have a elite D like us you can win with bad QBs, The Golden Calf of Bristol with the Broncos and Alex Smith comes to mind.

Why people would want cam to start with no practice and as banged up as he is is beyond me

Let's just sit Cam all year. We don't want him to get hurt.

    • I've really only begun to pay attention this week being that training camp is looming, so I was personally caught off guard by the fact that Nic Scourton remains unsigned. That's not necessarily bad news, but it's not necessarily good news either. Apparently it's a thing with this year's draft class. "Of the 32 players selected in the second-round, 30 remained unsigned and the clock is ticking. "Already we've seen one second-round pick hold out from the start of training camp with that player being Los Angeles Chargers' wide receiver Tre Harris. Harris did not report with the rest of the Chargers' rookies on Saturday due to his contract situation, a issue that could impact nearly every other team in the league. "For the Panthers, defensive end Nic Scourton is the player to watch for when rookies start showing back up to the team facilities next week. "The 51st overall pick is one of the 30 second-rounders who has yet to sign their rookie contract and the reason why is due to the other two that have actually signed. "Cleveland Browns' linebacker Carson Schwesinger and Houston Texans' wide receiver Jayden Higgins each signed fully guaranteed contracts as the first and second players drafted in the second-round. Prior to this year, second-round picks never received a fully guaranteed deal, only players selected in the first-round." https://atozsports.com/nfl/carolina-panthers-news/panthers-nic-scourton-contract-second-round-pick-training-camp-hold-out-tre-harris/ So, I suppose we'll see what's what pretty soon. It's definitely something to monitor.
    • overwhelming majority of kids in travel ball aren't getting scholarships though because most teams are rec caliber (and not watched by scouts)    and parents/leagues sort of helped create this system and narrative IMO where travel ball is now oversaturated and most of it is simply expensive rec ball.  is travel beneficial for some athletes to get more exposure? Sure. The ones travel actually existed for.   I still think travel has expanded entirely too broad at this stage......where they will now have 5 teams per year in your backyard area pending they can get parents to write those checks.   Ain't no scout ever laying eyes on 90%+ of the kids in travel ball at this stage of where it has morphed into.
    • Im really curious to see how the defense is going to look once its playing with some leads.
