Mostly Agree or Disagree?

Interesting that the Panthers coaching staff graded KB higher this week than last. Yet, PFF grades him worse. Tells you how much faith to put in PFF.

To be fair, I am almost more willing to believe PFF than what the coaches TELL the media. I cant imagine after a 3 drop game with a holding penalty on a big running play and pretty bad run blocking for a good part of the game that he did better than last week. I can see it as focusing on the good things he did and trying to get him to forget about the mistakes. Because I definitely think that the last 2 drops were because he couldnt stop thinking of the first one.

It was a tough run defense and I'm not saying Stew played poorly.... but with the added touches and with our passing game keeping the linebackers in check I really expected more from him.

I'm starting to get a little bit concerned about Stewart. He hasn't been very good since 2011 (basically when the injury issues starting actually affecting him during the season). Since 2011 (his last healthy season), his stats:

165 carries for 573 yards (3.47 ypc).

Compare that to DeAngelo (moreso the ypc than the absolute carries/yards):

388 carries for 1,652 yards (4.26 ypg)

Behind the same line, DeAngelo averages three quarters of a yard more per carry than Stewart. And this doesn't even mention the fact that DeAngelo has always offered more in the receiving game.

Still early and maybe Stewart just needs to get his sea legs under him after not having played a lot the past few years, so hopefully he can return to his pre-injury form (3,500 rush yards on 725 carries, 4.83 ypc).

The coaches are looking at the big picture.  PFF is only looking at when the ball is coming his way.  The coaches loved what he did catching the ball in week one, but they didn't hide that they were disappointed in some other aspects.  They wanted him to block better and do a better job of selling his routes when the ball likely isn't coming his way.  I'm guessing he did a lot better this week at those aspects.

    • I can always count on yout to put things so delicately lol. I'm still not sold on the fact that Tepper will make them keep him if they don't see him as a long term answer.
    • holy poo... this thread inspired me to keep trying to guess passwords to various alts I've created over the years and I finally got in! I pretty much accepted my fate as a lurker for the last several months because I could not remember my password. I didn't realize that new users couldn't join either, that explains things. I have been around for years under several different monikers, through the good and bad. I too always find myself coming back here even with all of the new social media options for Panther fan engagement. It's simply nostalgic.   I do get extremely annoyed with the same 5-10 posters shitting on Bryce and complaining about everything. It's unfortunate that half of them are mods and that nobody new can join because now I pretty much just come on here and see Bryce / Panther slander. There is barely any positivity to be had. We all watch this team and hang on this forum for entertainment purposes only. We have no control or say in anything. I used to be such a crazy ass fan that would argue with strangers about Cam newton on the internet and at games. Now, as a father of 3, a business owner and someone with way gnarlier life problems - I like to watch football and talk about football as an escape. Not to bitch more. I really like the direction of the team and will root anyone in a Panthers jersey. I live down the street from the Rams practice facility, Matthew Stafford is currently coaching his daughters flag football team in the same program I coach my sons. I have two highly ranked Rams staff members sons on my team. The way we beat them and had them on the ropes in the playoffs has me feeling amazing, and you would think we have the next great thing in Bryce with the way they all speak of him. I'm gonna ride that high and be a delusional fan, I hope that huddle can stick around or get fixed and perhaps I will get back to posting more now that I can log in again. I will do my best to not get banned. Keep Pounding!
    • Well, if they know Tepper wants to keep Bryce there is an an implied safety net there in case he fails. A possibility that he will be empathetic and •maybe• not fire them.  If they go against that and bring in someone else and that fails they are in a much worse spot.  IMO.  And another factor may be that after all those years of instability and musical chairs pre Bryce there will likely be a feeling of security in knowing what they have.   Kind of like settling just to keep from going through the process all over again.     IOW I think he really needs to fug up bad to lose his job and change our course.
