Is winning the NFCS a good thing?

Do we really want to make the playoffs only to get blown out 45-3 by a real team?

Serious question is serious guys.

Back to back division championships and [maybe] back to back winning seasons for the first time in division and team history respectively.

Why would you NOT want that?

I think our goal should be to go 8-7-1 and win the division. We would be the first back-to-back NFC South champs and it would be the first time we've had winning seasons back-to-back. The former would be a poke in the eye to the other teams; the latter a huge monkey off our back. We would get humiliated by the Eagles or whoever we played, but it would still kinda salvage the season.

He has a point, in the long run losing helps us more than winning. Those draft positions matter.

But teams don't tank. We should hope to win every game and be happy every time we win. But making the playoffs with this squad almost feels dirty. It would be like the bosses son getting promoted even though he isn't qualified.

Still I rather go than see the Saints go. And maybe Alexander/Hardy come back. Maybe we make a trade or find a free agent worth a damn. Maybe this team will be something in December.

Winning the NFC South doesn't mean anything if we can't win in the playoffs. All it means is that we was the average team in a horrible division if we can't make a statement. I just hope and pray this team can get it together and stop embarrassing their selfs on national television. I don't care how bad the teams look at the end of the schedule. If this team doesn't beat Seattle on Sunday we are in hot water.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
