Over the last 3 weeks, Mike Shula's offense has averaged less points...

Same post in every thread. 90% of people agree that Shula is a problem and needs to go. You don't have to look at execution to judge a coordinator, but instead play call, situational awareness, game plan change, taking advantage of a weakness, and play design. Shula is bad at all of those. I don't have to see it executed to know that his play has a high percent to fail before it is even ran.

With our OL....should could call a perfect playcall. It could easily result in a disaster simply bc of oue talent not having the ability to compete at a high enough level with the opposition.

That is a talent issue. Yet there will be 57 posts saying Shula is dumb.

Yes, Shula is a basic playcaller. Ball control. You may not agree with that style. But if he sucks....it is largely bc the FO office didn't equip him with talant to do what they pay and ask him to do

Cam newton, KB, Olsen, Cotch, and company has moved the ball but failed to score touchdowns.

I hate it when Shula uses his Jedi mind power and has KB or Cotchery drop potentially game winning TDs, when he tells Bell to fall on his back the moment the ball is snapped etc.

I miss Tolbert far more than I hate Shula. As I am sure the offense does as well? Tolbert is the keystone of our offense. He doesn't get enough credit for the role he plays. And it seems most don't even realize his absence. He is an enormous piece of the puzzle. 3rd and short + goaline situations is where he truly lived. His ability to block from the backfield and convert dump passes into 15 yard gains is simply irreplaceable. Especially in mid season. Point blank, everybody looks better when he's healthy and playing. And the playbook is far more open with him out there.

I can't speak for anyone else but a ball control offense is not what I have an issue with.  San Diego runs a ball control offense.  San Francisco runs a ball control offense.  Seattle runs a ball control offense.

The problem with Shula is the stubbornness that is evident through his playcalling.  His refusal to adapt and change as seen by his never-ending commitment to running the read option (see: last Thursday night).  I get what you are saying and right.  If we had better talent on offense, would the results be better?  Absolutely, but that doesn't change the fact Shula is a poor playcaller.  We would be succeeding in spite of him.

Now like you have said Shula isn't the only problem with this team.  Offensive line is miserable.  QB has been inconsistent (we are running him way too much).  WRs just aren't playmakers outside of Kelvin Benjamin, who is inconsistent himself.  RBs can't stay healthy and don't have a lot of room to work with as far as running lanes go.  So we have several issues aside from Shula.  But Shula is still a poor coordinator.

So when did we have an OC who didn't suck?? We have rarely had great offenses.

Now that's the real question. Now here's another: is Rivera just a less animated Fox? Or was it Hurney that wanted to bring back 70's football? I have my own idea but would like to hear yours.

Basic is generous, he in my mind is a poor play caller with a decent playbook. Without getting onto the chicken and egg debate, he should get the calls in quicker and use personal better to help a terrible line.

Comparing Chud and Shula, they have one thing in common, they are lousy playcallers

Chud was and is a brilliant offensive mind. But a crappy playcaller

Shula is and old school boring ass offensive mind. But a crappy playcaller

Chud was so caught up in himself and how brilliant he was he called all kind of crap. Shula just call the same game over and over again not looking at opponents and his own team.

Agree. Those teams actually hold on to the ball. We try not to turn the ball over and punt. 3 and out isn't doing a very good job of controlling the ball....

Yep, just like how Tampa's FO fuged him over, or when the University of Alabama couldn't recruit the right players for him to really shine.

The conspiracy against Mike Shula runs deep.
