DE Greg Hardy: 'I want to play'

Yeah, I know.  You also love Dave Gettlemen way too much too.

i just don't believe in crucifying someone in less than two years. Especially with what he was left. we all knew we would take a step back this year. Being hopeful that he'll fix things is a lot better for my health than stressing about every little bad thing that happens

Serious thread derailed into weirdness. Too bad.

On topic: I hope Hardy sues the league when this is all over. It will be interesting to see what he'll be rewarded with in civil court when he inevitably gets off on the criminal case and we're all just sitting here looking at a guy suspended for an entire season (virtually unprecedented in the annals of pro sports history) FOR A FIRST-TIME MISDEMEANOR CASE HE WAS ACQUITTED OR HAD A HUNG JURY OVER.

That would be a huge waste of his time and money.

Free Kraken!

This is the exact thing his lawyer will be pleading for the jury to do,to bad it probably will not happen until 2015. Just thinking  about $13,000,000 being paid to him this year, the amount of money that could have gotten us a good LT and help with our DB's,makes me ill.

What do you think is going to be the basis for this suit of yours? He's getting paid every dime he would have if he was on the field, He signed agreeing to accept this paid time off. He's got zero case against anybody.

What makes me angry about the whole situation is the fact that it is a misdemeanor. Most of the time you can get your first misdemeanor offense dropped but the courts are probably treating this case different since Hardy is a well known athlete.

I am 100% against violence, assaults, etc but like you stated, the he said, she said allegations, issued  toward Greg Hardy would have been thrown out of court years ago. Today it seems everyone, especially judges, want to make a name for themselves and feather their cap every chance they get.

When the media starts and fuels certain firestorms, people like Roger Goodell and Jerry Richardson bend over backwards attempting to preserve the lily white image of the NFL,even if it's at the expense of a team,in this case Richardson's team.

Suspended with pay, though.

If it were without pay, and he ended up acquitted, he might have a shot at a successful lawsuit. But since he's essentially getting paid 13 million dollars to do nothing right now, I doubt a judge or a jury of regular folks would have much sympathy for him.

And obviously, if he winds up being found guilty, he'll have no leg to stand on.

Well he could have gotten the AP deal if he hadn't pled Not Guilty. I'm sure a plea bargain was on the table and he refused.

With pay, without pay. All he has to prove is the unfair banishment harmed his image and affected his ability to earn and he has a case.

edit: and by ability to earn, I mean his next contract.  If it's less than a comparable player at his position, it impacted his ability to earn.

I know a couple of people who had similar misdemeanors.  Hardy's initial punishment was similar to what they got. Most people take the verdict the judge renders and deal with it, Hardy decided to go for the jury trial for understandable reasons.  It was stated a month or so ago that most of these cases get delayed once or twice, so in that regard, he is not getting treatment much different than others.

He may be getting more scrutiny, but so far, there is no evidence he is getting singled out, or getting preferential treatment by the courts.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
