Hardy, Kalil, DeAngelo, Stewart, Bell, Charles Johnson: Who will be back next year?

Regarding Kalil and CJ... can they not sign them both to an extension, not restructure, that pays them closer to what their worth, and spreads their remaining guaranteed money out over a few years, to get to a more team friendly outcome?

in a nutshell, you're asking them to work more seasons for less per season.

what would be kalil and cj's incentive to sign such a deal?

Well, I'm thinking(maybe too much) that neither will get a deal like they have now if they go elsewhere.  So what would be the difference if they sign an extension for a few years, that spreads their guaranteed money out more, and is also more in line with their market value.  They'd still be getting the money we owe them, plus the extension deals, but we're paying over more years to make the hit less.  Restructures just back-load the contract more, don't they?  I'm seriously asking, as I'm unsure.

All you would be doing is pushing more money toward the back of their deals, something that DG is currently trying to clean up from the foolish spending days of Marty Hurney.

We need money off the books, not pushed back.

CJ - June 1st cut ... 10 Million savings on the cap

DW - Cut ... -266,000 loss on the cap

Stew - June 1st cut ... 2 million savings on the cap

Kalil - will restructure ... add money to the cap

If Kalil restructures to around 5 million .... we will have close to 30 million in cap space with these cuts

I just don't see us letting Hardy go. Even if he gets suspended for 6 games he still has a lot of value. I know many will disagree but I wouldn't be against us rebuilding this offseason. Since we are in cap hell for the next two years it's going to be hard to keep our team competitive. So we trade our good vets for picks or prospects and by time we get out of cap hell we will be going into the offseason with a lot of young talent and plenty of money to spend on free agents.

Or we could just continue to sign cheap free agents and pray they can contribute something to our team.

First, we have a ton of dead money off the books after this season so it will be interesting to see what DG deems too much in that regard.

Hardy - Hardy is gone

Kalil - Stays but restructures (doesn't take a pay cut necessarily)

D-Will - We release him.  Cut v. Hit is just slightly favorable and probably worth the dead $

Stewart - Stays another season.  The following becomes a different scenario.

Bell - GONE GONE GONE GONE GONE

Charles Johnson - I think he's out

Get a DE and RT in the FA.  Draft an LT in the first.  Start the rebuild from the inside out.

No, that's not what I'm getting at.  Restructuring pushes money to the back end.  It saves the current year or two, but gets lumped into the final year or two.  I'm talking about extending them to a more normalized deal, while spreading their guaranteed money over the lifetime of the extension.  I realize this may not be possible, as I'm definitely not a cap expert by any means.  That's just me asking, because there's usually someone who knows more on how it works.
