Gary Kubiak

was the problem in houston kubiak's fault, or was it houston's fault?

what was the texans overall record and number of winning seasons prior to kubiak's arrival?

of the retreads, he could be the best choice. i'm not a fan of the wco, or necessarily kubiak himself, but considering the lack of support we've given cam, this would be a positive step.

and i have to say i'm not all that interested in someone without HC experience replacing ron. i' rather have a guy with experience who probably learned a few things in his first attempt dealing with an already sucking team in his first attempt at being a HC who has something to prove than some brand new HC who has to learn how to manage a whole team like rivera did. i'm just not interested in a coach going through that learninf curve again.

give me a retread or a HC from the college ranks before promoting another coordinator without HC experience.

and please make it an offensive minded person. if we are going to give cam a big contract, we better start giving him the tools and coaching to help bring about the success we'll be paying for.

better weapons.

better protection.

better coaching.

If we are going to sign a retread, I rather sign a guy who put up historic numbers.  Belichick was a bad coach with Cleveland.  He got on with the Patriots and has gone on to have hall of fame worthy success.  Let's take a look at Josh McDaniels.  His first year in Denver he went 8-8.  His next year his team sucked and was fired.  With his time in Denver, and extra time under Belichick, perhaps he will be the next guy to go on and have hall of fame success.  This dude has put up historic numbers that Brady never had prior.  Let's see what McDaniels could do with Cam.

I've been a big Dennison proponent over the years.  He's a unheralded mind in this league.

Kubiak's success has been when they're together and I think they simply know how to install an effective offense.

The thing is though, I am weary of GK being an Offense version of Rivera and they also have a rather thick WC playbook.  I think we could transition back but don't know if a Kubiak-Dennison combo would be an ideal fit.  Intriguing though.

Dennison is one of the best OL minds out there IMO.  It's worth looking at the years Rick was with and not with the Texans.  Quite telling in my opinion.

Good call, all for it. I would even be OK with keeping McD on as DC.

I'd love to see McD stay, but I wanna see some 3-4 hybrid stuff mixed in.

The real question is, how much better can Cam Newton make Gary Kubiak look than Matt Schaub could?

A lot better I suspect.

A Kubiak may be as far "out of the box" that JR/Gettlemen might go anyway.

As to the Schaub vs. Newton thing....we don't really know how Cam would do in a WCO.

I'm more than willing to give it a shot though, we need to find out what we have in Cam asap.

We need to be all in on Cam or let him go.

I prefer all in as Shula has done nothing but retard his development since Chud left.

Cam breaking all those records his rookie season was no fluke, we either build this franchise around our QB or trade him and stick an average vet back there and try to win Rivera's way, which we already know doesn't work. Cam is being wasted under Rivera/Shula.

I totally agree with you.

I'm ready to go "all in" and see what we have.  We can watch him play out his 5th year, and either get an extension working, or tag him, and give him another year.

    • Great article on all the Lil Canes attending their debutantes ball. Walt with a great breakdown of all the rookies, as always, and I'm a huge fan of his team coverage, he is truly a treasure, but as a fan of mixed metaphors and superfluous language which some might ignorantly refer to as a "run-on sentence" I never really understood what that mean or where to put the comma after a quote in the middle of a sentence, but holy poo Walt, this is a gem, "While there's a long road left in front of them left to determine whether or not they'll have that same success on the blue line again, the beginning stretch of the journey has been thrown a wrench, and the story on defense has been the emergence of up-and-comers forced into becoming lineup regulars." , bravo, take a bow, sir!
    • How do I activate said Krispy Kreme deal? I'm stoned man you can't be playing with me about this...
    • When the broadcast showed the two benches side by side during the last TV timeout, it was pretty obvious the whole operation is a shitshow. If I was the owner, I would play that clip, with commentary, on the jumbotron at MSG as I fired the coach, GM, President, the whole lot. Bring in your AHL leadership team, wholesale, to finish out the season and start from scratch next year.  Can't fire all the players and fold the season. But, hopefully decapitating the zombie will light a fire under the body and burn out the cancer of the roster. (It makes sense if you don't think about it...) There are obviously issues on the roster. But, you can't have the entire coaching staff completely tuned out with 5 minutes left in a 2 goal game this early in the season. And you can't trust the people that hired them to hire the next staff. If you trust your AHL GM/Scouts, let them run the deadline firesale.   ...     Please don't let the owner read any of this. Because, this poo is hilarous!
