However next year we have around $7.3M already on the books. Are we basically gaining $19M of cap space by the reduction of dead money? Less more cuts and releases of course.

But many of the big numbers are going away.

I posted this run down on this about a week ago in another thread.... the thread about "who's the blame" I think.

currently the 2015 cap hit is, $128,674,223. (current contracts and dead money for next season)

if the Cap ceiling doesn't go up from the $133M it was this season, that leaves, roughly $4M I think...?

this wont be fixed by next year.  Expect more of the same until we are out of cap hell.  This is why Rivera was given an extension.  Gettlemen did not want to subject a new coach to this mess, and wanted to start fresh with a clean slate and new coach when the salary situation is resolved.

You can't look at it that way. That would only be true if everyone else's salaries stayed the same.

Best thing to do is to look at what we have committed and subtract that from the cap.

might as well throw another 13$ on that from Hardy.

Thats 39 million fuxkin dollars of our cap that is being paid out this year that isnt at least on the field. Not to mention the retard contracts that are being played out by johnson, Dlo, stew ect.

Does this put poo into perspective in how tough gman has it to put a good roster together?

    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
    • I mean, our TE room does suck but we had other pressing needs and no surefire upgrades in the draft. I was surprised at how many TEs went in the first three rounds. I think most everyone was. You want a guy who projects at least as a guy who has the potential ceiling to be a starter in those rounds and I didn't see 11 of those in this draft. Off the top of my head, I think that's how many TEs went in the first three rounds. It was in that range. That's roughly 10% of the overall picks. Definitely did NOT see that coming with this TE class.
