Manziel early riser for Browns

BEREA, Ohio -- Johnny Manziel called his ugly debut as an NFL starter an "absolutely" humbling experience, and his midweek preparation habits for Sunday's game at Carolina seem to validate those words.

ESPN spotted Manziel's car arriving at the Browns' facility at around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, more than five hours before the team is scheduled to practice at 12:50 p.m. Unless someone else was driving the car, Manziel was likely coming to the facility for prep work on the Panthers. This was the same car Manziel often drives to games and practices.

A 7:30 arrival would be considered early for most NFL standards, unless the Browns were holding team meetings.

I really want to make jokes but I was out all night at his age too. Get back to the barracks right as my alarm was going off for PT

You didn't have a job that requires a huge amount of time prepping to be successful, and not just during team-relagated times but when they are off the clock too.

ESPN Reports: Cam was going to the stadium on his day off .... and gets into a car wreck.

ESPN Reports: Cam needs more time to study because he's too slow to pick up offense.

ESPN Reports: If Cam Newton was smart enough to pick up an NFL offense then he would have never gotten into a carwreck.

    • It's just more of the same. It's been talked about and noted for months around here. That take can't be a surprise at this point.
    • I played a little ball myself in what feels like ages ago now and once played for a college football hall of fame inductee. He preached some about playing with your teammates but the never give up mindset is what he really wanted and most importantly he often lectured on knowing your assignment and doing your own individual job at the highest level possible. I don't know how the old fella would have felt about CMC pulling back when it was a poo show with idiot coaching to protect himself because this coach was a former national championship winner and a proven winner in life as well who worked with other very capable intelligent winners who expected the very best of themselves. I guess the best situation would have been for CMC to have never been in that situation with such poor coaching and perhaps this would not have even been a subject.
    • I feel like Bryce's quiet is almost a reflection of his lack of confidence or belief in himself. He looked afraid and timid most of the season last year. I hope this changes if he is to have any chance of leading the team. He seems like a very nice dude so I feel for him and hope he can overcome.
