RR not ruling out calling up Hill

There has to be another reason Hill isn't on the roster other than his drops.

Our entire wide receiving corp has struggled with drops, so I refuse to believe that is the primary reason for his sustained position on the practice squad.

Is Hill running the wrong routes in practice, is he a bad blocker, does he not understand the playbook, is there no chemistry with him and Cam?

I haven't the slightest idea, but I refuse to believe that drops are keeping him off the active roster after what we've seen from our wide outs this year.

So you don't know what the problem is but it can't be drops. Typical huddle response. Already have your mind make up with no information to back it up.

And I don't trust this staff anyway. They're known for keeping talent on the bench.

Or maybe this staff is good at not putting people out there until they are ready to,perform. Rivera has started more rookies than Fox ever did. He started Cam when folks said he wouldn't be ready to start for 2 years. Since you don't see anything but the games you have no clue who is showing out or struggling in practice. To assume that Rivera would just keep, players on the bench because he has no clue about their potential is rather ridiculous. It assumes that he has no decision making in the process of picking the guy in the first place. Given his success over 30 years I really doubt that is true.

In theory it is not a bad idea if Philly can't go.

Need at least one speed guy on the field

Yes. regardless of the hands, they cannot ignore his speed.  He may not catch a ball, but Olsen gets 100 yards and KB catches 8 passes because they had to roll a S over.

You have to respect the deep threat.  All it takes is one catch to change the game.

Why the fascination with Hill? We saw what he brings to the table last season with Ginn. He'll blow by everyone and drop a perfect 40 yard bomb from Cam. Again. And again. And again.

And Benjamin does the same thing. With no Philly, we have no speed. Deandre is on IR and I don't know of any other speed guys stashed away. Without a speed guy our offense will be stopped too often. They will load the box and stop the run and man up which means Cam will have to hold the ball longer than he needs to. We need someone to hold their secondary at bay and none of our current receivers will do that.

Hill?

Bwhahaha! Our offense is screwed.

Laugh all you want, Ginn dropped a lot of balls last year, but the threat that he might get past the defense made teams play us differently. We don't need Hill to do anything spectacular, but he's faster than any WR we have including Brown and it ain't close. All of a sudden you line him out wide and those safety's can't just peak in the backfield. Line him up and run him straight down the field the first play and if he gets a step throw him the ball. Doesn't matter if he catches it, it's a different ball game after that.

Exactly, people act like he's some undrafted guy that never played before.

    • What?!?!?! Chark's 1,000 yard season was 4 years before he played for us and he only had 525 yards in 15 games as our #1 WR.  Dude has 3,100 yards in 7 seasons, he's the literal definition of a JAG and you think he is better than half our current WR room? T-Mac is literally already better than Chark was at his peak, which again, was years before he ever even put on a Panthers uniform, and there is a real argument to be made that XL and Coker were both better as rookies than Chark was for us in his one season here.
    • Im glad we're starting low. It's nonsensical to put us at 28 IMHO based on objective things IMHO (I think 21-24) is far more appropriate but whatever. Washington was at the bottom last year FWIW.  In 2003, Sports Illustrated said our best chance to win the division was to transfer to the ACC. In 2015, everyone wrote us off as a team that snuck into the playoffs with a losing record in 2014 and lost our best WR in TC (Kelvin Benjamin). All these videos are fodder for conversation, but this prediction has no more validity than saying the Panthers are making the SB bc we're starting the season against the Jaguars again. If Bryce plays like he did down the stretch we will end up the season just fine. This roster is much better than it has been the last 2 seasons. No one knows who any season will ultimately end up, but this team is finally being built in the right way, and the idea that this roster can't compete this year is as insane as being it was when we were gaslit in 2023 that we were a rookie QB from winning the division with that roster.
