Reggie White was better than both of them, at least for his whole career. To me, White is the best defensive player to ever play for the Panthers.

well don't look now but luke has as many first team all pros in his first three years as peppers had his entire career with the panthers plus a DPoY

I haven't seen much of peppers play as a panther but Kuechly is on an entire other level. Peppers is good, but can he single handedly poo on the saints? I think not.

He absolutely could have in his prime, just never seemed to have the elite motivation to match his otherwordly talent- he's had a fantastic career, but if he had Smitty's fire he probably would have broken a ton of records. As it stands now he was and is a great, if a bit inconsistent, player who was good for a handful of freakish plays every year and would occasionally just take over a game.

I am and always be a smitty fan and a Peppers fans but you cannot look at them in the same way as they are different and draw motivation differently. The situation here when Peppers left had nothing for him to be motivated about though he is not a fiery type he still went out on his own terms. I know people like peppers who are not motivated by face mask grabbing and telling them to suck it up and rub some dirt on it. I think that is a big factor in what happened and the way people reacted to him. I will not hold it against him for making his own choices even though I wish he had stayed.
