I haven't heard or seen anything to overhype that game because I don't look for it..........not too hard to do......when it comes time to play the game then I'll turn on the TV set............that's it..................why all the fuss about claiming its overhyped?

Do other things all week...........

meh. when all the in-depth stories become about your players it's probably pretty cool. seeing hour-long specials on cam's car wreck and an interview on how fozzy's career rose from nothing and depthy examinations of the panthers improved offensive line play would've been cool as fug this year. i wouldn't have been able to work the past week and i'd be useless this week.

I know people around here don't like the Patriots or Tom Brady but the fact is Brady is going to go down in history as one of the best Qbs to ever play the game. I consider myself lucky to be able to have watched many of his games. I was too young to watch the other great Qbs like Marino, Young, Elway, Favre's younger years. Maybe some of you guys are a bit spoiled because you got to grow up watching those great Qbs I missed out on. Nothing lasts forever in the NFL and whether you don't care to admit it Tom is going to go down as one of the best I'm glad I get to watch him in another Superbowl. It's all about perspective. Him and Peyton will be talked about 20+ years from now. I'll be glad to say I got to watch their entire careers.

The Super Bowl is the biggest event in sports,in my opinion,so why wouldn't it be overhyped ? I don't like either team but the " Under Inflate Gate" situation, reminded me of how big a cheater Belichick and the Patriots really are.

There is no telling how many games the Patriots have won over the years, playing with an under inflated football that was easier to catch and harder to fumble.Another example of the  things they try to get away, not counting the things they probably do that have gone undected.

It will feel strange to me,pulling for Seattle,a team i don't like but i'm hoping the cheating New England,a team i dislike more, gets it stuck to them good this time around.

don't watch it don't pay attention to it if you don't like it. Problem solved. The only time I watch ESPN aka the hype machine that creates news instead of reporting it is when there's a game on I have interest in or I get home from the bar on the weekends and throw on Sportscenter for background noise.

While I was in Australia they had Super Bowl parties too, and I even got the day off to the embassy Super Bowl party each year (our Sunday is their Monday).  American Football is a growing interest over there, at least as far as I saw.  Not saying it comes close to comparing to Aussie Rules or either of the rubgies, but it's probably as popular as soccer.

But yea, the fervor that accompanies the SB and playoffs don't come close to that of the World Cup, but they're not totally comparable since the World Cup is every 4 years.  Better to compare that to the Olympics.

The World Cup is a series of games.

The Super Bowl is a single event, and it's not just watched here.

The World Cup has Playoff elimination games exactly as the NFL does to narrow it down to 2 teams for the Big Prize.

Only difference is the NFL doesn't have a 3 versus 4 consolation game.

    • Evero to the Raiders makes zero sense unless the OC he's pitching them is a failed HC who doesn't have interest in trying for it again. They're a team about to draft a QB #1 overall, developing him is job #1 for the new coach/staff.  Hiring a DC with a young up and coming OC wouldn't make any sense, because then you risk losing that OC to a HC job after maybe just a year or two and that young QB has to change system, play caller, etc. It's why hiring an offensive minded coach makes the only sense.  The Raiders have to make the right hire/pick with this HC hire and #1 pick combo because of that division they're in, it's a gauntlet and you can't screw up this opportunity.
    • 1. Sadly, it's just too early to tell with Icky. And the draft will have come and gone before we have anything, FA, too probably. Njiman was good, but there's dollars to be invested there as well. This is really our biggest puzzle to figure out. And Moton on the other flank is getting long in the tooth, too.  2. Coker: Pay the man WR2 money.  3. Most WRs take three years before you really know what you've got. We'll know for sure by the end of this one and he's still on a relatively inexpensive rookie contract. Now if someone comes calling for a good, good trade... 4. This is the make or break for good teams vs bad teams. And depth development is essential. We've had a bit of that but there isn't a spot on our line that doesn't have worries except for maybe on guard.  5. I think you draft the best ILB, the smartest one in the first round and don't look back. People lost their poo here on this board when we "wasted" a pick on Luke Kuechly.  6. Yeah, I think Chuba is a workhorse. But we need to be more decisive in his use. Still not sure Rico doesn't come back next season, too. He'll get to see the marketplace first, though, and we'll offer similar numbers to him.
    • I've grown to enjoy Mike & Tripp, even more so after listening to the ESPN, TNT, TBS hacks who, for whatever reason, seemingly don't know dick about the Canes.
