Sam Baker?

WOW!!

I wonder if somewhere out there,  on some far away NFL message board,  there's a thread going on ,  discussing the pros and cons of signing Byron Bell.

The only thing stopping Baker from being as bad as Bell right now ,is Baker can't stay healthy enough to stay on the field.

Isn't he injury prone?  I mean similar to Otah.   Except,  unlike Otah,   when Baker is healthy,  he's just a below average tackle.

torn patellar tendons in back to back years

if gett brings him in it's going to be on a cheap contract with zero long term commitment.  ultimately the panthers aren't the ones who spent a first round pick on the guy nor did we hand him a $41 million contract like the falcons did.  if the value is there and he can hold it down for a season or two while a young guy develops behind him i could see it happening.  our GM has done similar things before.

Current panther OTs; canadian goose, former DT, 5 cut in 2 years.......

Baker and I'm family sure long(will be cut) are super injury-prone, but given what's currently here, plus current FAs. Baker should be a option, its a dire spot for panthers. I believe they need to draft 2(min) and bring in 2 FAs too and tell amini he's a T now. That's 8+(plus UDFAs), hold a open comp for 4 spots.

Byron Bell

Below I’ll list 10 players that make sense as additions to the Chargers.  They are not listed in any particular order of importance, so to speak.

OT – Byron Bell  ( Carolina Panthers )

Bell is another player that has barely missed any time since being drafted; only two games.  He has experience at the left and right tackle spots, most recently as the blindside protector in Carolina.  He is going to wow anyone in any given category but he is solid across the board.  The need to keep Philip Rivers upright is crucial to the success of this team moving forward.

Bell’s contract could be a little tricky with his recent transition to left tackle.  The word out of Charlotte is that the Panthers would like to re-sign him but they don’t want to overpay.  The Chargers are probably in that same boat.

That being said, if some of the other Oline options fall through, Bell could be there if he hangs around without being picked up.

Lol. The Panthers don't want to under pay Bell.

also yeah the guy has been terrible but he did grade out positively in 2012 which was the last time he played a 16 game season

I know people think 'hey, anyone is better than Bell' but throwing money at someone else who's also known to be bad just isn't a solid strategy.
