Which WRs/TEs Are A Lock On Next Season's Roster?

Who would I guarantee?  KB, Olsen, Swole.  I like Philly well enough, and he made some nice catches this year, but not nearly enough for any sort of guarantee.  I know the same could be said of Swole, but I like his potential and I need to see more of him actually on the field before I can form an opinion.

Yeah, for me I see Philly as either the 5th or 6th WR, depending on if we get a guy like Ginn, who ideally is your last receiver but an incredible return specialist. I give Philly a spot contingent on what we bring in... He likely is the first guy I would drop from my list if we get something better... But for now, I keep him and Swole for a lot of the same reasons - versatility and potential, although I believe Swole has far greater potential, hence why Philly would be the first gone from my current list.

Why on earth do you all think Swole Bones is guaranteed a spot? Did I miss something?

I said if YOU were Gettleman.

Swole has incredible potential and talent,he just needs to be utilized. Furthermore, he contributes on offense and ST, and has big play ability even in his limited reps he has seen thus far.

So if I'm Gettleman, I'm holding onto him until he proves he's not worthy of holding onto.

We are the franchise that signed Charles Godfrey to an extension so holding onto a young player with incredible talent to see if he blossoms doesn't bother me in the least.

I don't see it. I haven't seen much improvement in how many seasons now?

Zach Miller just hit FA and Jordan Cameron will too. I'd rather have Ed Dickson near vet minimum and be TE #3 and sign one of them at #2.

-edit- I do agree he should at least get a shot in camp this year though.

Philly is he caliber of WR at this stage where he only would be a lock on a team with little talent and depth....

So yeah, I guess here he qualifies. But he wouldn't be a LOCK for your average team at WR. He'd be the guy with potential you hoped developed.

That ain't a Philly knock. I think he can become a good WR and our 3 (3 on a good team). Dude is fast and tough. But he isn't "lock" good by a long ways

benjamin and olsen.

This. While it's best to wait until training camp to ask these questions because our roster isn't complete until after we draft and sign free agents.

Olsen and KB are the only ones a guaranteed to make the roster. Cotchery is old and in the decline. Brown should make the roster unless we sign a few big name WRs and draft some but there's always a small chance he won't make the team. Bersin is far from a lock, even though he can return punts he horrible at it. Stephen Hill couldn't make the team this season but it's all in his hands literally if he can make the team this season. Brandon Williams may be a favorite around here but he has never been more than a #3 TE and didn't do well last season. I feel we will try to resign Dickson to be our back up TE.

    • I guess I should have stipulated outside the sacred cow.   I complained from year one that Bryce should compete for and win the starting job on his own merit but no he was just handed it. I have been right there with everyone that wants competition.  But I don’t really have a huge problem with it for this season the way it has gone because where are the viable people we don’t have to trade for? I actually am okay with tiny hands Pickett because he is so close to Bryce arm strength wise and to be honest, skill wise. Probably. And it is only a one year deal.  That also takes I to account that the QB class is looking stacked next year and if Young fails miserably then we get either a reset or a real competition and there will be more guys that I would like looking at in the FA QB class next year as well.    I sort of accept where we are this year and look at it as a treading water year. I just want to get to next year with some clarity. More than anything. And they did empty out the room. Again, who was really there for us?  And I know it would not be a true competition at this point anyway. They are giving him the year, like it or not.    Also I don’t give a poo about winning games IF he sucks and or goes down after sucking because draft position and that stacked QB class.  And I want out from under him So Bad.     So I guess it is several factors that lessen my anxiety over his backup this particular season.    I am not trying to convince anyone, but you asked.
    • What happened to King? Was he a no show?
    • think these smaller Qb's are going to have a much harder time convincing an NFL team to draft them. not saying a smaller Qb under 6 feet tall will not make an NFL roster .it will most likely be a UDFA contract more or less prove it deal.NFL teams have been burnt time & time again investing in these small NFL Qbs & i think  teams are now finally starting to realize that investing in these smaller Qb's under 6 feet tall is simply a bad idea  ...just saying
